MiHKAL GmbH, with MiHKAL being an acronym of Molecules I Have Known and Loved, is a Swiss pharmaceutical company that is developing psychedelics and entactogens as potential medicines. Matthias Grill is the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, while Tamara Hell is its co-founder and chief financial officer (CFO). The name of the company is a play on the name of psychedelic chemist Alexander Shulgin's books ''PiHKAL'' (''Phenethylamines I Have Known and Loved'') and ''TiHKAL'' (''Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved''). MiHKAL has filed and published patents on prodrugs of psychedelics and/or entactogens. In September 2021, Compass Pathways acquired MiHKAL's intellectual property (IP) and entered a non-exclusive partnership with the company to develop novel psychedelic compounds. MiHKAL's drugs include lys-MDA and lys-MDMA, among others. The company MiHKAL should not be confused with the deceased psychedelic music artist of the name MiHKAL (standing for Music I ...

List Of Investigational Hallucinogens And Entactogens
This is a list of investigational hallucinogens and entactogens, or hallucinogens and entactogens that are currently under formal development for clinical use but are not yet approved. ''Chemical/generic names are listed first, with developmental code names, synonyms, and brand names in parentheses.'' The list also includes non-hallucinogenic drugs related to hallucinogens, such as non-hallucinogenic serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonists and non-hallucinogenic ketamine analogues. Cannabinoids, or cannabinoid receptor modulators, are not included in this list. Many of the indications are not for continuous medication therapy but rather are for medication-assisted psychotherapy or short-term use only. The section that the drug is in corresponds to its highest developmental phase, not its phase for all listed indications. This list was last comprehensively updated in October 2024. It is likely to become outdated with time. Under development Preregistration * Midomafetamine (MDMA ...

Lys-MDA
Lys-MDA (Lysine-MDA, N-(L-lysinamidyl)-3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine) is a substituted amphetamine derivative with empathogenic effects, which acts as a prodrug for Methylenedioxyamphetamine, MDA with a slower onset of effects and longer duration of action. Lys-MDA, along with the related derivative Lys-MDMA, are in early stage human clinical trials as potential treatments for treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. New MDMA prodrugs are in the development phase at MiHKAL GmbH in Switzerland. A Phases of clinical research#Phase I, phase 1 clinical trial comparing MDMA, MDA, Lys-MDMA, and Lys-MDA has been completed as of August 2024. Pharmaceutical Industry
The pharmaceutical industry is a medical industry that discovers, develops, produces, and markets pharmaceutical goods such as medications and medical devices. Medications are then administered to (or self-administered by) patients for curing or preventing disease or for alleviating symptoms of illness or injury. Pharmaceutical companies may deal in generic drugs, branded drugs, or both, in different contexts. Generic materials are without the involvement of intellectual property, whereas branded materials are protected by chemical patents. The industry's various subdivisions include distinct areas, such as manufacturing biologics and total synthesis. The industry is subject to a variety of laws and regulations that govern the patenting, efficacy testing, safety evaluation, and marketing of these drugs. The global pharmaceutical market produced treatments worth a total of $1,228.45 billion in 2020. The sector showed a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.8% in 2021, ...

Pharmaceutical Companies Of Switzerland
Medication (also called medicament, medicine, pharmaceutical drug, medicinal product, medicinal drug or simply drug) is a drug used to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent disease. Drug therapy (pharmacotherapy) is an important part of the medical field and relies on the science of pharmacology for continual advancement and on pharmacy for appropriate management. Drugs are classified in many ways. One of the key divisions is by level of control, which distinguishes prescription drugs (those that a pharmacist dispenses only on the medical prescription) from over-the-counter drugs (those that consumers can order for themselves). Medicines may be classified by mode of action, route of administration, biological system affected, or therapeutic effects. The World Health Organization keeps a list of essential medicines. Drug discovery and drug development are complex and expensive endeavors undertaken by pharmaceutical companies, academic scientists, and governments. As a result ...

Compass Pathways, or COMPASS Pathways, is a British pharmaceutical company developing psychedelics as potential medicines. Its main drug candidate, psilocybin (COMP360), is currently in phase 3 clinical trials for treatment-resistant depression. This candidate has received breakthrough therapy status from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is the most advanced psychedelic drug candidate in development besides Lykos Therapeutics's midomafetamine (MDMA). Compass Pathways is the largest company in the psychedelic medicine industry and, in 2020, was the first psychedelic medicine company to be listed on the NASDAQ. It has faced criticism for patenting psychedelic drugs and even certain psilocybin mushroom species. In October 2024, after the FDA rejected Lykos Therapeutics's MDMA for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) New Drug Application (NDA), Compass Pathways said that it would lay off 30% of its workforce and narrow its research focus.
