Sinegorye (russian: Синего́рье; lit. ''region of blue mountains'') is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Yagodninsky District of Magadan Oblast, Russia, located on the Kolyma River, from Kolyma Hydroelectric Station. Population: Geography Sinegorye lies around 280 km north-west of the oblast capital of Magadan, on the left bank of the Kolyma near its confluence with the Bakhapcha. The settlement is located downstream of the Kolyma Reservoir, in Yagodninsky District, just over 70 km south-east of the administrative centre Yagodnoye. History The youngest town in the Kolyma region, Sinegorye was built in the period 1971 to 1981 to house workers for the construction of the nearby dam and hydroelectric power station on the Kolyma River. Kolyma River
The Kolyma ( rus, Колыма, p=kəlɨˈma; sah, Халыма, translit=Khalyma) is a river in northeastern Siberia, whose basin covers parts of the Sakha Republic, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, and Magadan Oblast of Russia. The Kolyma is frozen to depths of several metres for about 250 days each year, becoming free of ice only in early June, until October. Course The Kolyma begins at the confluence of the Kulu and the Ayan-Yuryakh, originating in the Khalkan Range and flows across the Upper Kolyma Highlands in its upper course. Debin
Debin ( rus, Де́бин, p=ˈdʲebʲɪn) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Yagodninsky District of Magadan Oblast, Russia. Population: Geography upstream is Sinegorye and the Kolyma dam. History Debin was founded in 1935 with the creation of a ferry point over the Kolyma, initially under the name ''Pereprava''. In 1937 it was renamed for the Debin River, which joins the Kolyma a few kilometers upstream from the settlement. During the era of the Gulag network, it was the base for one of the larger prison camps administered by Dalstroy in the Kolyma region, centred on using forced labour for gold mining. Kolyma Hydroelectric Station
Kolyma Hydroelectric Station is located on the Kolyma River in the village of Sinegorye, Yagodninsky District, Magadan Oblast Russia. It has an installed power generation capacity of 900 MW. Kolyma HPP is the basis of the energy system of Magadan Oblast; it produces about 95% of the electricity in the region. It is the upper stage of the Kolyma cascade, while the lower one ( Ust-Srednekan Hydroelectric Plant) of 570 MW installed capacity is under construction. Construction began in 1974 and the first generator was commissioned in 1982, the last in 1994. Bakhapcha River
The Bakhapcha (russian: Бахапча; also ''"Бохапча"'') is a river in Magadan Oblast, Russia. It has a length of and a drainage basin of . The Bakhapcha is a right tributary of the upper course of the Kolyma. The nearest village is Sinegorye, located to the west of its mouth. The upper course of the river is a protected area. Course The source of the Bakhapcha is in lake Solnechnoye, a small lake located west of the Olsky Plateau (Ольское плато), at the western end of the Kolyma Mountains. The Maymandzhin Range rises to the east of the river basin. The river heads across an uninhabited area roughly northwards until its mouth. Flowing across mountainous terrain there are many rapids. Kolyma Reservoir
KolymaReservoir (russian: Колымское водохранилище) is an artificial lake which was created by the construction of the Kolyma Hydroelectric Station on the Kolyma. It was designed by Lenhydroproject. Filling began in 1980 and it was commissioned in 1995. Description The Kolyma Reservoir is in the Upper Kolyma Highlands. The town of Sinegorye, Yagodninsky District, is located downstream from the dam. The total length of the reservoir is and the width at its widest point is . Sea Of Japan
The Sea of Japan is the marginal sea between the Japanese archipelago, Sakhalin, the Korean Peninsula, and the mainland of the Russian Far East. The Japanese archipelago separates the sea from the Pacific Ocean. Like the Mediterranean Sea, it has almost no tides due to its nearly complete enclosure from the Pacific Ocean.
