Debin
Debin ( rus, Де́бин, p=ˈdʲebʲɪn) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Yagodninsky District of Magadan Oblast, Russia. Population: Geography upstream is Sinegorye and the Kolyma dam. History Debin was founded in 1935 with the creation of a ferry point over the Kolyma, initially under the name ''Pereprava''. In 1937 it was renamed for the Debin River, which joins the Kolyma a few kilometers upstream from the settlement. During the era of the Gulag network, it was the base for one of the larger prison camps administered by Dalstroy in the Kolyma region, centred on using forced labour for gold mining. Debin (river)
The Debin ( rus, Дебин) is a river in the Yagodninsky district of Magadan Oblast, Russia. It is a left hand tributary of the Kolyma. Its length is , counting the length of the Archagyl stream at its head, and it has a drainage basin of . Yagodnoye village is located on the left bank of the Debin; the R504 Kolyma Highway crosses the river in its middle course and runs on the northern side of the river, roughly parallel to its lower course until it bends northwards near Debin. Kolyma River
The Kolyma ( rus, Колыма, p=kəlɨˈma; sah, Халыма, translit=Khalyma) is a river in northeastern Siberia, whose basin covers parts of the Sakha Republic, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, and Magadan Oblast of Russia. The Kolyma is frozen to depths of several metres for about 250 days each year, becoming free of ice only in early June, until October. Yagodninsky District (russian: Я́годнинский райо́н) is an administrativeLaw #1292-OZ and municipalLaw #511-OZ district ( raion), one of the eight in Magadan Oblast, Russia. Kolyma Highway
The R504 Kolyma Highway (russian: Федеральная автомобильная дорога «Колыма», ''Federal'naya Avtomobil'naya Doroga «Kolyma»,'' "Federal Automobile Highway 'Kolyma'"), part of the M56 route, is a road through the Russian Far East. It connects Magadan with the town of Nizhny Bestyakh, located on the eastern bank of Lena River, opposite of Yakutsk. At Nizhny Bestyakh the Kolyma Highway connects to the Lena Highway. Taskan (village)
Taskan (russian: Таскан) was a rural locality in Yagodninsky District, Magadan Oblast, Russian Far East. There is a road leading to Yagodnoye to the southwest of Taskan and another to Elgen to the southeast. Google Earth Geography This abandoned settlement is located in the Upper Kolyma Highlands by the confluence of the Mylga and the Taskan, a left tributary of the Kolyma that flows from the Chersky Range. History Taskan was established in the 1930s. In the 1940s, there was a food processing factory which employed mostly prisoners. In the 1960s, the first two-story wooden buildings were built, as the economy began to develop. By 1993, the population had risen to about 850 inhabitants and there was a state farm that specialized in animal husbandry and the growing of vegetables. The population fell rapidly after the collapse of the USSR and only a residual population remained. According to the 2010 census only 30 people lived in Taskan.
