2024 League1 Canada Season
The 2024 League1 Canada season is the third edition of League1 Canada, the 3rd division soccer in Canada. It includes league competitions from its four member leagues, and an inter-provincial championship for select teams from the women's divisions. The 2024 League1 Canada season is the first to include the men's and women's divisions of League1 Alberta. League1 Canada
League1 Canada (L1C; ) is a national pro–am Association football, soccer organization in Canada. It consists of four regional leagues; League1 Alberta, League1 British Columbia, League1 Ontario, and Ligue1 Québec with each league operating men's and women's divisions. L1C is overseen by Canada Soccer Business, in partnership with participating provincial member federations. League1 Canada is the third tier of the Canadian soccer league system which is the highest level of pro–am soccer in the country. It is below the Canadian Premier League which is the nation's top-tier professional league. The Canada Soccer National Development Centre and Canada Soccer EXCEL programs are full-time women's soccer development programs run by the Canadian Soccer Association in partnership with the various provincial associations to develop Canadian women's soccer players as part of the Canadian women's soccer pathway. Calgary Blizzard WSC
Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club is a Canadian soccer team based in Calgary, Alberta that plays in the men's and women's divisions of League1 Alberta. History The club was founded in 1967 with a team of 11 and 12-year-old boys, who represented the province of Alberta at an Expo 67 soccer competition in Montreal, and upon their return, they adopted the name of a defunct Canadian Junior Football team (North Hill Blizzards) and became an official club. In March 1977, the club was registered as a Society in the Province of Alberta. In August 2019, they received the National Youth Club Licence from the Canadian Soccer Association, which recognizes the highest achieving organizations from across Canada and must adhere to a set of standards for club and player development. CONCACAF W Champions Cup
The CONCACAF W Champions Cup is an annual continental women's football club competition organized by CONCACAF that determines the club champion for the region encompassing North America, Central America and the Caribbean. It is comparable to Champions League competitions on other continents. Involved are the top women's clubs from the region, and serves as the qualification tournament for the future FIFA Women's Club World Cup and FIFA Women's Champions Cup. It is the women's counterpart of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. History On 12 March 2024, CONCACAF announced the competition, which began in August 2024. The Women's Inter-Provincial Championship is an annual soccer tournament organized by League1 Canada. Established in 2022, it is contested by the champions of each of the League1 Canada member leagues. The winner is considered to be the national champion and has qualified to the CONCACAF W Champions Cup since 2023. Format The Inter-Provincial Championship is a four-team knockout tournament played in August, immediately following the regular season. 2024 Canadian Championship
The 2024 Canadian Championship () was the seventeenth edition of the Canadian Championship, the premier men's domestic cup competition in Canadian soccer, and the 23rd competition staged to determine the winner of the Voyageurs Cup. It featured all eleven professional men's soccer teams in Canada, from Major League Soccer and the Canadian Premier League, along with the champions of the three semi-professional League1 Canada competitions. The Inter-Provincial Championship is a three-day cricket tournament in Ireland, played between regional teams drawn from three of Ireland's five provincial unions. It parallels first-class cricket tournaments in other countries such as the County Championship of England and the Sheffield Shield of Australia.
