That time zone shift was a reform made by Governor–General Narciso Claveria on August 16, 1844, in order to align the local calendars in the country with the rest of Asia as trade interests with Imperial China, Dutch East Indies and neighboring countries increased, after Mexico became independent in 1821. Gustaf Cederström
Gustaf Olof Cederström (1845-1933) was a Swedish painter who specialized in historical scenes and portraits. Biography His father, (1804-1892) was a naval officer and his mother, Theresine (1815-1873), was an amateur painter. His interest in history began when he was still very young and he discovered that one of his ancestors had participated in the Skirmish at Bender. At first, he planned to follow in his father's footsteps and pursue a military career. In 1864, he was assigned to an infantry regiment in Värmland as an ''underlöjtnant'' but, whenever possible, he also took art classes at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1870, he decided to resign his commission and become an artist. Lasse-Maja
Lars Larsson Molin, alias ''Lasse-Maja'' (Djupdalen, Ramsberg, Västmanland, 5 October 1785 – 4 June 1845, Arboga), was a Swedish thief and memoirist. He was famous in history for disguising himself as a woman during his tours as a thief. His disguise gave him the nickname ''Lasse-Maja'', a combination of the male name ''Lars'' and the female name ''Maja''. He wrote his own memoirs, which became very popular in 19th-century Sweden. Biography Early life Lasse-Maja was the son of the tailor Lars Olsson and Stina Olsdotter. He was raised on the '' torp'' Nöden in the village Djupdalen in the Ramsberg parish in Västmanland. His mother came from a wealthy family and had been married before to a wealthy man by the name Molin, but his father lost her money, and Lasse-Maja was raised in poverty. Gustaf De Laval
Karl Gustaf Patrik de Laval (; 9 May 1845 – 2 February 1913) was a Swedish engineer and inventor who made important contributions to the design of steam turbines and centrifugal separation machinery for dairy. Life Gustaf de Laval was born at Orsa Municipality, Orsa in Dalarna in the Swedish de Laval Huguenot family (immigrated 1622 - Claude de Laval, soldier - knighted de Laval 1647). He enrolled at the Royal Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology in Stockholm (later the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH) in 1863, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering in 1866, after which he matriculated at Uppsala University in 1867. He was then employed by the Swedish mining company, Stora Enso, Stora Kopparberg. From there he returned to Uppsala University and completed his doctorate in 1872. Johan August Ekman
Johan August Ekman (26 November 1845, Hjälstad - 1913) was Archbishop of Uppsala, Sweden, 1900–1913. Biography Johan Ekman was the son of Olof Ekman and Maria, born Johansdotter. He was a student of theology at the University of Uppsala receiving his Licentiate of Theology in 1870 and was ordained into the priesthood in 1873. He was earned his Bachelor of Theology (''teol. kand.'') in 1876. He became a professor of theology at Uppsala University in 1887 and received his Doctor of Theology (''dr. theol.'') in 1893. Thereafter he worked as a vicar and held other church offices. He was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Västerås in 1898; and appointed Archbishop of Uppsala in 1900. Ika Peyron
Albertina Fredrika "Ika" Peyron, née Asp (1 July 1845 – 15 March 1922) was a Swedish composer, pianist and organist. She wrote songs as well as compositions for violin, piano and solo songs. Some of her pieces are still played, especially compositions for marching bands. Life Ika Peyron was born in Timrå, Västernorrland, and was the foster child of the merchant Anton Asp, who wished her to have a profession and gave her a good education. Asp wished for her to become a medical doctor, but she was early on focused on music. She was educated as a pianist in Stockholm and a student of Louise Engström, Ivar Hallström, , Emil Sjögren and Anton Andersen. She also studied in London. She attempted to compose but gave up because of the poor attitude toward female composers. Sigrid Björkegren
Sigrid Björkegren (1845–1936), was a Swedish shipowner.Sigrid Magdalena Lovisa Björkegren, http://www.skbl.se/sv/artikel/SigridMagdalenaLovisaBjorkegren, Svenskt kvinnobiografiskt lexikon (artikel av Linus Karlsson), hämtad 2020-07-12. She was born to the mayor of Simrishamn, Folke Kraak, and Catharina Elisabeth Werngren. In 1866, she married the shipowner Johan Daniel Björkegren. They had two daughters and one son. During her marriage, she was an active business partner of her spouse. She managed the Björkegren Shipping Line after the death of her spouse in 1898 until 1916. It was the biggest sailing shipping line in Sweden at the time. She also took over the Chairmanship of the AB Njord Insurance company. At the time when she took over the company, the Sailing ships were declining on favor of the Steamboat, and Sigrid Björkegren gradually decreased the sail ships.
