Mambattiyan
''Mambattiyan'' () is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language vigilante film co-written, produced and directed by Thiagarajan, starring his son Prashanth as the title character. The film, also starring Meera Jasmine, Prakash Raj, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in other pivotal roles, is a remake of the 1983 Tamil film ''Malaiyoor Mambattiyan'' that starred Thiagarajan. The film was released on 16 December 2011. Plot IG Ranjith (Prakash Raj) recalls the memories of a criminal whom he failed to capture. Annachchi (Kota Srinivasa Rao) rules a village in western Tamil Nadu. When he is opposed by Mambattiyan's (Prashanth) father Chinnasamy ( Vijayakumar), the "jameen" kills him. Coming to know of this, Mambattiyan kills Annachi and those in support of him. A group of youngsters in the village join hands with Mambattiyan. They lead a life in a forest. Malaiyoor Mambattiyan
''Malaiyoor Mambattiyan'' () is 1983 Indian Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by Rajasekhar, starring Thiagarajan, Saritha and Silk Smitha. It was released on 1 July 1983. The film became a blockbuster and established Thiagarajan as a star. It was remade in Hindi by the same director as '' Gangvaa'' (1984) and in Telugu as ''Kondaveeti Nagulu'' (1984). In 2011, Thiagarajan remade the film starring his son Prashanth, titled as '' Mambattiyan''. Plot There is a group of youngsters in the village headed by Mambattiyan, who lead life in a forest by robbing the rich and distributing the wealth to the poor. Prashanth
Prashanth Thiagarajan (born 6 April 1973), known professionally as Prashanth, is an Indian actor, businessman, playback singer and film producer known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late 1990s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. He has won a Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. Thiagarajan Sivanandam (born 21 June 1946) is an Indian actor, film director and film producer in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil, he has acted in several Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. He is the father of Tamil actor Prashanth, son-in-law of actor-director Peketi Sivaram and the maternal uncle of Tamil actor Vikram. Career Originally a businessman, Thiagarajan made his acting debut with '' Alaigal Oivathillai'' (1981), appearing as the elder brother of the film's lead actress Radha. Subramanian (??? – 24 April 1991), known professionally as Rajasekhar () was an Indian film director and screenwriter who was active mainly in Tamil cinema during the 1980s. He also directed films in Telugu language, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Early life and career Rajasekhar was born as Subramanian in Nattarasankottai in the then Ramanathapuram district and was a Bachelor of Science graduate.
