Bixiga is a neighbourhood in the center of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It is located within the district of Bela Vista. Bela Vista
Bela Vista (also known as ''Bexiga'' or ''Bixiga'') is one of the most traditional Italian neighborhoods in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It belongs to the borough of Sé, and it has been a mixed neighborhood since its beginning, where free African-Brazilians and/or a mixture of Native-Brazilians, Blacks and Portuguese descendants lived. Later, more European immigrants arrived, such as Spaniards, Germans, English, French, Belgians, and Italians. Vai-Vai
Grêmio Recreativo Cultural Social Escola de Samba Vai-Vai , popularly known simply as Vai-Vai is a samba school from São Paulo, Brazil. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were in the neighborhood Bixiga, at Rua Marques Lion, a football team called Cai-Cai which used the colors black and white, which formed part of a group of crying and played in the field of Lusitana, near the intersection of rock and Una, Saracura River region. Around 1928 a group of friends, led by Livinho and Benedito Sardinha helped to animate the games and parties performed by the Cai-Cai, but were always seen as freeloaders and troublemakers, being called jokingly as "the Vae-Vae gang." Expelled from the Cai-Cai, they created the "Pack of the Tattered", and in parallel, the Vae-Vae Carnival and Sports Cord, which was formalized in 1930. Italian Brazilians ( it, italo-brasiliani, pt, ítalo-brasileiros) are Brazilians of full or partial Italian descent. Sobrado (architecture)
A sobrado is a type of house style building from the Portuguese colonial era, typical in Brazil and other former Portuguese colonies. It is a form equivalent to the Anglo-American townhouse, particularly the creole townhouse in Louisiana. Featuring typically two floors with a balcony, the sobrados were the residences of the urban notable people, notably in the former capital of Brazil, Salvador. They are also found in Cape Verde, particularly in São Filipe on the Fogo island, and in Angola, in Luanda. A sobrado typically consists of two or more floors and a relatively large built area. During the colonial period in Brazil these houses served as residences for slave owners in cities, marking a sluggish beginning for urbanization in Brazil. Anhangabaú River
The Anhangabaú River (in Portuguese: ''Rio Anhangabaú'') is a river of São Paulo state in southeastern Brazil. The Anhangabaú River cuts through the very oldest part of central São Paulo, though it has been canalized since the first decade of the 20th century.
