Yanping West Railway Station
Yanping West railway station () is a railway station in Xiqin town, Yanping District, Nanping, Fujian, China. History During construction of the station, a tomb was discovered. A new bridge was constructed across the Min River for access to the station. The station opened with the Nanping–Longyan railway on 29 December 2018. Yanping District
Yanping District is a district of Nanping, Fujian province, People's Republic of China. The population of Yanping District was 504,483 at 2016. Etymology The name of the district literally means "Prolong Peace", and it is still commonly referred to as Nanping, which was its name before 1995. Nowadays, people still use both "Yanping" and "Nanping" in mailing address, and Nanping is even more common. History The city was built as a house at 196 BC. Before that it was a village governed by Houguan County (Fuzhou). Because it is the start point of Min River, it acts as a trading transferring center between North Fujian, Jiangxi and Fuzhou. Also, it is the last stronghold of Fuzhou, the largest city in Fujian, and usually carefully guarded. Nanping
Nanping (), historically known as Yanping (), is a third-tier prefecture-level city in northwestern Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. It borders Ningde to the east, Sanming to the south, and the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangxi to the north and west respectively. Part of the famous Bú-î Mountains range is located in this prefecture. Its population was 2,680,645 as of the 2020 census whom 795,448 lived in the built-up (or metro) area made up of Yanping and Jianyang urban districts. Nanping is a picturesque old city, located on a hill near the fall of the Jianxi Brook into the Min, and surrounded by high stone walls, which were used to prevent artillery fire. Nanping–Fuzhou Railway
Nanping–Fuzhou railway or Nanfu railway (), is a railroad in eastern China between Nanping and Fuzhou in Fujian Province. The line is long and was built between 1956 and 1959. Other Names Since 1956, the Nanping–Fuzhou railway has been referred to by at least four other names. The railway branches off of the Yingtan–Xiamen railway at the Waiyang station, near Nanping and is also called the Waiyang–Fuzhou railway or Waifu railway (). The Waiyang Station is located in Laizhou, a township of Nanping Municipality, and the railway is also known as the Laizhou–Fuzhou railway or Laifu railway (). It is the largest river in Fujian, and an important water transport channel. Most of northern and central Fujian is within its drainage area.
