Wovenwar was an American metal band from Southern California, formed in 2013. They released their self-titled debut album in 2014. The band's musical style on the album has been described as alternative metal, melodic metalcore, hard rock, and modern heavy metal. History In May 2013, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested for soliciting the murder of his wife. The remaining members soon began experimenting and writing with guitarist Shane Blay of Oh, Sleeper. Lambesis' arrest negatively affected his relationships with As I Lay Dying, which resulted in the departure of all members except for Jordan Mancino, who had been sharing an ownership for the band's rights with Lambesis since 2006. ''Wovenwar'' is the debut studio album by American metal band Wovenwar. Released on August 5, 2014, through Metal Blade Records, the album was produced by Bill Stevenson and mixed by Colin Richardson. The debut single, "All Rise", was released on April 21, 2014, followed by "The Mason" on June 18, 2014, and "Death to Rights" on February 17, 2015, with the latter single becoming the third most added song on active rock radio. ''Wovenwar'' was generally well received by critics; at Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 71, based on 5 reviews. Shane Blay
Shane Brandon Blay is an American guitarist and vocalist that performs primarily metalcore. He has performed with bands such as Oh, Sleeper, Between the Buried and Me, and Wovenwar. Background Blay started his musical career in the late 1990s/early 2000s, with the band Evelynn. The band released a split EP before hiring on Nick Hipa. Blay knew Hipa since the age of 15. The band was signed to Pluto Records. The band disbanded in 2004 and the members went on their separate ways. Blay alongside Micah Kinard, James Erwin, Lucas Starr, and Ryan Conley formed the band Oh, Sleeper. The band has reached a decent amount of success, but Blay has stated that, contrary to popular belief, the band doesn't make much money. Jordan Mancino
Jordan Mancino (born May 22, 1983) is an American musician. He has played with several metal acts as the official or as a live member, including As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, and Wovenwar. Background Jordan Mancino started his musical career with the band Edge of Mortality which played shows with Born Blind and Cast in Stone, one member went on to join Bleeding Through. He later met his longtime friend Tim Lambesis. The duo were in several acts together including Point of Recognition. The two friends left that band and then formed As I Lay Dying. The two formed the band and released six albums, as well as a compilation of cover songs. In 2009, Mancino joined the supergroup Souls of We. Samuel Nicholas Hipa (born November 30, 1982) is an American musician. He is the current lead guitarist of Mire, lead guitarist of Wovenwar, and was the longtime former lead guitarist of As I Lay Dying (band), As I Lay Dying. He has also been touring rhythm guitarist for God Forbid since 2022. Background Hipa started his musical career with the band Evelynn. The band was signed to Pluto Records. In 2001, Evelynn toured with As I Lay Dying (band), As I Lay Dying. As Evelynn started to disperse, Hipa joined As I Lay Dying in 2003. Joshua Kyle Gilbert (born March 17, 1987) is an American musician who performs primarily metalcore. He currently performs bass as a member of Spiritbox. He has played with several acts, and first became known for his former role in As I Lay Dying (band), As I Lay Dying. After their initial breakup, he formed Wovenwar with other members of As I Lay Dying. He is also a contributor to ''Alternative Press (music magazine), Alternative Press''. Philip Joseph Sgrosso (born September 16, 1985) is an American musician, best known as former guitarist of the metalcore band As I Lay Dying (band), As I Lay Dying, the rhythm guitarist of the band Wovenwar, former touring guitarist for Nails (band), Nails, and the current lead guitarist for Saosin. Poison Headache is an American thrash metal band that formed in 2010. The band consists of guitarist, bassist, and vocalist Phil Sgrosso, vocalist and guitarist Andy Kukta and drummer Kyle Rosa. History The band began in 2010 as a project of Phil Sgrosso, Kyle Rosa and Andy Kukta. The project formed after the demise of Kukta's band, Intermal Affairs.
