WYHR (101.5 FM) is a radio station licensed to Vinton, Virginia, and serving the Roanoke metropolitan area. WYHR is owned by the Bible Broadcasting Network. Centennial Broadcasting is a small market radio broadcasting company based in Clemmons, North Carolina. The company is led by President and CEO Allen B. Shaw. Shaw began his career in 1959, at the age of 15, at radio station WRWB in Kissimmee, Florida. History 1997–2000 Centennial purchased Las Vegas–based KQOL from American General Media for an undisclosed sum on May 13, 1997. Two months later, on July 22, 1997, the company bought another Las Vegas station, KJUL, also for an undisclosed amount. Vinton is a town in eastern Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. The population was 8,059 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. Vinton is part of the Roanoke metropolitan area and the Roanoke Region of Virginia. History By the late 18th century, settlers began moving into the area and in 1797, the Gish family established a gristmill on Glade Creek. WZZU (97.9 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Lynchburg, Virginia. It broadcasts an active rock format and is owned and operated by Mel Wheeler, Inc. The studios and offices are on Electric Road SW in Roanoke, Virginia. WZZU has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 570 watts. The transmitter is on Mistover Drive in Monroe, Virginia. Red Zebra Broadcasting was a sports marketing company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. The company owned and operated four radio stations in the greater Washington, D.C. radio market, one in Hampton Roads, VA, and two stations in Richmond, Virginia. BOB FM is the on-air brand of a number of FM radio stations in the United States and formerly in Canada. The BOB FM format mostly concentrates on album rock, alternative rock and pop hits from the 1980s and 1990s, especially those popular during the early days of MTV when music videos made up most of MTV's schedule. However, BOB FM also features a smattering of oldies from the 1970s or earlier and classic hits from the 1990s or later.
