WINC-FM (105.5 FM) is a radio station licensed to Berryville, Virginia, serving the Northern Shenandoah Valley. The station is currently stunting with Christmas music. History In November 2020, the then-WXBN flipped to hot adult contemporary, assuming the hot adult contemporary format and "WINC-FM" (pronounced "Wink FM") branding previously heard on the Winchester-based 92.5 frequency (which was in the process of being sold to the Educational Media Foundation). The station would take over the WINC-FM legacy callsign on December 29, 2020. WZFC (1400 AM) is a broadcast radio station licensed to Winchester, Virginia, United States. The station carries a news, talk, and sports format. WZFC serves Winchester along with Frederick and Clarke counties in Virginia. Originally known for 80 years under the WINC call sign, the station was launched by Richard Field Lewis, Jr. on June 26, 1941 as Winchester's first radio station. The station remained in the hands of the Lewis family until sold to North Carolina-based Centennial Broadcasting in 2007. WVRX simulcasts sister station WVRS. Berryville, Virginia
Berryville is an incorporated town in and the county seat of Clarke County, Virginia, United States. The population was 4,185 at the 2010 census, up from 2,963 at the 2000 census. History Berryville was founded at the intersection of the Winchester Turnpike and Charlestown Road. The land was first granted by the Crown to Captain Isaac Pennington in 1734, and George Washington surveyed it on October 23, 1750. In 1754 Pennington sold it to Colonel John Hite. According to legend, Daniel Morgan would engage in combat with young toughs at the intersection, having first piled large stones nearby to use as ammunition in case of need.
