''Unatoned'' (stylized as ''UNATØNED'') is the eleventh studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released on April 25, 2025, through Nuclear Blast and Imperium Recordings. It is the band's first album to feature drummer Matt Alston and guitarist Reece Scruggs. At 41 minutes, ''Unatoned'' is Machine Head's shortest album. Background and promotion On February 17, 2024, Wacław Kiełtyka announced he had left Machine Head, explaining that Decapitated is his 'absolute No. 1 band' and that Decapitated and Machine Head are both active bands with overlapping tours, creating important scheduling conflicts. In November 2024, the band announced a North American tour for 2025 with In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth as support acts, and released a single, "These Scars Won't Define Us", which featured vocals from all four bands in what Machine Head described as a "Wu Tang Clan-level thrash collaboration"; in doing so, the band announced its eleventh studio album. Machine Head is an American Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Oakland, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Robb Flynn, who remains the only original member of the band. Machine Head's aggressive musicianship made it one of the pioneering bands in the new wave of American heavy metal. Its current lineup comprises Flynn, bassist Jared MacEachern, drummer Matt Alston and guitarist Reece Scruggs. Bassist Adam Duce, guitarists Logan Mader, Ahrue Luster, Phil Demmel and Wacław Kiełtyka, and drummers Tony Costanza, Chris Kontos (drummer), Chris Kontos and Dave McClain (musician), Dave McClain are former members of the band; Mader and Kontos toured with the band in 2019 and 2020 as part of the 25th anniversary tour for its first album, ''Burn My Eyes'' (1994). ''Of Kingdom and Crown'' (stylized as ''ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN'') is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released on August 26, 2022, through Nuclear Blast and Imperium Recordings. It is the band's only album to feature guitarist Wacław Kiełtyka who joined the band in late 2019, and left in early 2024. The band's first concept album, ''Of Kingdom and Crown'' is set in a futuristic wasteland and revolves around two characters, Ares and Eros, who both go on their own respective killing sprees following the death of their loved ones. ''Of Kingdom and Crown'' was positively received by critics, many who called it a return to form for Machine Head following the release of the band's oft-maligned ninth album ''Catharsis'' (2018), with praise being directed towards the album's diversity and musicianship, which was described as heavier and more technical than previous efforts. Jared MacEachern
Jared MacEachern (born August 16, 1980) is an American Heavy metal music, heavy metal musician who is the current bassist of Machine Head (band), Machine Head. He was previously the singer and rhythm guitarist of Sanctity (band), Sanctity. Biography MacEachern started singing in his parents' church choir when he was five until he was thirteen. He started playing musical instruments when he was ten, starting with the violin, later switching to cello, and then to bass guitar, which he played for several years. He graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach. He went to college for music performance for bass. He then met his future Sanctity (band), Sanctity bandmates and switched to guitar. MacEachern became exposed to heavy metal music around the age of twelve. A friend had a copy of Metallica's ''Metallica (album), Black Album'' and he played the song "The Unforgiven (song), The Unforgiven".
