Machine Head (band)
Machine Head is an American Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Oakland, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Robb Flynn, who remains the only original member of the band. Machine Head's aggressive musicianship made it one of the pioneering bands in the new wave of American heavy metal. Its current lineup comprises Flynn, bassist Jared MacEachern, drummer Matt Alston and guitarist Reece Scruggs. Bassist Adam Duce, guitarists Logan Mader, Ahrue Luster, Phil Demmel and Wacław Kiełtyka, and drummers Tony Costanza, Chris Kontos (drummer), Chris Kontos and Dave McClain (musician), Dave McClain are former members of the band; Mader and Kontos toured with the band in 2019 and 2020 as part of the 25th anniversary tour for its first album, ''Burn My Eyes'' (1994). La Rochelle (, , ; Poitevin-Saintongeais: ''La Rochéle'') is a city on the west coast of France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean. Ahrue Luster
Ahrue Ilustre (born September 17, 1968), commonly known as Ahrue Luster, is an American guitarist. ''Unto the Locust'' is the seventh studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released in Australia on September 23, in the UK on September 26 and worldwide on September 27, 2011. It was produced and mixed by Robb Flynn, and was the band's highest charting album (22 on the ''Billboard'' 200) until their following release, '' Bloodstone & Diamonds'', reached 21. ''Unto the Locust'' was recorded in Green Day's Jingletown Studios. On June 14, 2011, Machine Head released a mix of lead single "Locust" on the 2011 Mayhem Festival iTunes sampler. "Aesthetics of Hate" is a song by American heavy metal band Machine Head from their 2007 studio album, ''The Blackening''. Written by vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn, the song is a retaliation to an article written by William Grim. Grim wrote that late guitarist Dimebag Darrell was "an ignorant, barbaric, untalented possessor of a guitar", among other comments, which angered Flynn deeply enough to write the song. "Aesthetics of Hate" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 50th Grammy Awards. Released on March 27, 2007, in the United States, ''The Blackening'' sold 16,000 units in its first week, and became Machine Head's third highest charting release at number 54 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200, and charted in the Top 20 throughout many countries in the rest of the world. Groove Metal
Groove metal, sometimes also called neo-thrash or post-thrash, is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre is primarily derived from thrash metal, but played in slower tempos, and making use of rhythmic guitar parts. It was pioneered in the late 1980s by groups like Exhorder, Prong and Bad Brains, and then popularized by the commercial success of Pantera, White Zombie, Machine Head and Sepultura. The genre went on to be influential in the development of the new wave of American heavy metal, nu metal and metalcore, and continued to gain traction in the 2000s with Lamb of God, DevilDriver and Five Finger Death Punch, and 2010s with Killer Be Killed and Bad Wolves. "Crashing Around You" is a song by American heavy metal band Machine Head from their album ''Supercharger''. It was released as a single in September 2001 and is also available on the band's live album ''Hellalive'' and the second ''Fast and the Furious'' soundtrack '' More Fast and Furious''. The single's release was ill-timed, coming out shortly before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Music video The video was released just barely before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The imagery in the video focused around a disturbed man in a small room and the band playing in front of a backdrop which switches back and forth between a city skyline and flames, with the flames superimposed over the skyline towards the end of the video. In fear that this could be viewed as insensitive after the tragic 9/11 attacks, the music video was subsequently banned from MTV due to its depiction of falling buildings. ''Supercharger'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head. The release was ill-timed, and, as a result of little promotion, fell far short of the success of '' The Burning Red'', which has sold about 134,000 copies in the US to date. ''Supercharger'' has sold about 45,000 copies in the US to date, making it a commercial failure. It is the band's last release to feature lead guitarist Ahrue Luster. The album continues the nu metal style first heard on ''The Burning Red''. Album information ''Supercharger'' was released in October 2001, just weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. ''Burn My Eyes'' is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released on August 9, 1994, by Roadrunner Records. The album's themes generally tie into the social disorder and corresponding inner tension that the band was exposed to in their native Oakland, California, reflected in Robb Flynn's lyrics, such as the Los Angeles Riots of 1992 and the Waco Siege of 1993. The album's title alludes to the third part of the phrase, "Burn my eyes and try to blind me" during the breakdown of " Old".
