Garry Lee Tonon (born September 12, 1991) is an American submission grappler and mixed martial artist. He is a five-time Eddie Bravo Invitational champion, and has won titles at ADCC submission wrestling championship, IBJJF World and Pan American championships. He is known for his use of leglocks in submission-only grappling matches, and is a former member of the "Danaher Death Squad," a grappling team that was led by John Danaher at Renzo Gracie Academy. While he still maintains a consistent submission grappling training schedule, since his debut in early 2018 Tonon has focused primarily on training and competing in professional mixed martial arts competition. He is an active fighter for the Singapore-based mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship. He officially signed with the organization in October 2017. Amelia Tonon
Amelia Tonon (1899–1961) was an Italian entomologist who researched silkworms, their eggs and crossbreeding them. She also patented a technique to stain embryos. Life and work Amelia Tonon was born in Trieste on 23 March 1899 (Trieste is now part of Italy, but at the time, the city was part of the Habsburg monarchy). As a teenager, she moved to Padua, Italy, where she graduated from the University of Padua in natural sciences. In 1923, she worked in a temporary assignment as a researcher at the Experimental Zoological Station of the University of Padua. The next July she competed for a permanent version of her position and won. Later she also earned her license adding teaching credentials to her skill set. In 1928, she spent three weeks as a visiting researcher at the Naples Zoological Station. Except for her time in Naples, Tonon worked exclusively at the Zoological Station of Padua. Carlo Tonon
Carlo Tonon (25 March 1955, in San Vendemiano – 17 June 1996, in Stabiuzzo) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer. He was a professional rider from 1982 through 1984 and twice started the Tour de France. 1984 Tour de France Tonon finished his first Tour de France for Carrera, where he rode alongside Guido Bontempi, in 1982 as 116th. He was again selected for the 1984 Tour de France where in the 19th stage he collided with a tourist while descending the Col de Joux-Plane. He was transferred to Annecy hospital with a fractured skull. He remained in a coma for two months and was left with a permanent disability which contributed to him taking his own life in 1996, aged 41. Pedro Tonon Geromel (born 21 September 1985) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back and is captain for Grêmio. Geromel also holds an Italian passport because of his grandfather. Club career Early years Born in São Paulo, Geromel moved to Portugal from Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras along with Elias.
