''Timely!!'' is the sixth studio album by Japanese singer-songwriter Anri, released in 1983. Overview The album was a collaborative effort with musician and producer Toshiki Kadomatsu. It is considered one of Anri's best releases. The single, " Cat's Eye", served as the opening for the 1983 anime series ''Cat's Eye''. It was one of the highest selling singles in Japan in 1983, remaining number-one for five consecutive weeks. The single was re-recorded for the album and was later covered by girl group MAX in 2010. Toshiki Kadomatsu
is a Japanese singer-songwriter, musician, and producer best known as one of the pioneers of the city pop genre. He has released many studio albums, as well as several instrumental and live albums. He has been active since 1981. Biography Kadomatsu began playing music at around grade 4 or 5, after seeing his older brother playing guitar and wanting to try it himself. Kadomatsu studied philosophy at Nihon University, where he participated in the university's music club. While still studying, he debuted as a musical artist in 1981 with single ''YOKOHAMA Twilight Time'' and the album ''Sea Breeze''. In 1987, he released the hit instrumental album ''SEA IS A LADY'' which charted at No. 4. "Cat's Eye" is a song by Japanese pop singer-songwriter Anri. It served as the opening for the anime series of the same name. A new version of the song titled "Cat's Eye (New Take)" was included on Anri's studio album '' Timely!!'', released on December 5, 1983. Since then, it has become the theme song for the entire franchise, being included in other adaptations such as the 1997 '' Cat's Eye'' film, '' Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat's Eye'' and was also used as a leitmotif for the titular trio in '' City Hunter: Angel Dust''. Yoshiko Miura
Yoshiko Takahara (, 1949 – November 6, 2023), better known under the stage name Yoshiko Miura (), was a Japanese lyricist. Life and career Born in Hirosaki, Miura started her professional career in 1978, and the same year she had her breakthrough penning the Junko Yagami's hit " Mizuiro no Ame". She is internationally best known for her anime theme songs, notably Anri's " Cat's Eye" and Takako Ōta's "LOVE Sarigenaku" (from ''Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel''). The Compact Cassette, also commonly called a cassette tape, audio cassette, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. Tetsuji Hayashi
is a Japanese composer, singer-songwriter, and arranger known for his influential contributions to the development of J-pop and city pop during the 1980s. He was exposed to Western pop music from an early age, sparking his passion for music. He honed his skills as a composer and arranger, and in 1978, he composed Mariya Takeuchi's debut album, ''Beginning'', followed by her hit single "September" in 1979 and " Mayonaka no Door" for Miki Matsubara that same year. Chinfa Kan
(born June 24, 1953) is a Japanese lyricist of Korean descent. Biography Chinfa Kan was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan, as a second-generation Zainichi. He graduated from Shizuoka Prefectural Hamamatsu-Nishi Senior and Junior High Schools. While attending Waseda University, he took up tanka writing and participated in the college's short song festivals. Kan made his debut as a lyricist in 1979 with Ann Lewis' "Shampoo", which was composed, arranged, and produced by Tatsuro Yamashita. He then wrote numerous hit songs with Tetsuji Hayashi. Kan also wrote lyrics for artists such as Hiromi Go, The Checkers, Agnes Chan, Akina Nakamori, Kyōko Koizumi, Anri, Miho Nakayama, KinKi Kids, Mika Nakashima, and BoA.
