''The Essential Collection'' is a 2012 compilation album released by Swedish Pop music, pop group ABBA, collecting all Single (music), single A-sides as originally planned and conceived by their record company, Polar Music, in addition to a few songs that were single hits in significant markets, as well as album tracks for which Music video, music videos were made. A two-Compact disc, CD set, the first disc spans 1972 to 1978 ("People Need Love" to "Summer Night City"), while the second covers 1979 to 1982 ("Chiquitita" to "Under Attack"). ''The Essential Collection'' effectively supersedes 2001's ''The Definitive Collection (ABBA album), The Definitive Collection'', retaining all but two tracks from the earlier release (eliminating the "Ring Ring (ABBA song), Ring Ring" and "Voulez-Vous (song), Voulez-Vous" remixes) and adding four others ("Bang-A-Boomerang", "That's Me", "One Man, One Woman" and "Happy New Year (song), Happy New Year"). ABBA ( ) were a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. "Summer Night City" is a song recorded by the Swedish pop group ABBA, written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as a tribute to their hometown of Stockholm. It is the group's second non-album single, released on 6 September 1978. It was recorded during the sessions of the group's upcoming '' Voulez-Vous'' album, but was eventually not included. However, it was included on the ABBA compilation album '' Greatest Hits Vol. 2'' in October 1979, more than a year after its release. He Is Your Brother
"He Is Your Brother" is a song recorded in 1972 by Swedish folk group "Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid" (which became the pop group ABBA soon after). The song continued on the lyrical theme from the band's previous single " People Need Love" - reaching out to your fellow man. It was issued as a single in Scandinavia ( Polar Music POS 1168), New Zealand (Family Label FAY 1054). The song only charted in Scandinavian countries. "Bang-A-Boomerang" is a song by ABBA, first released by Svenne & Lotta (both Swedish and English-language versions). The track was first recorded as a demo with English lyrics (but without any recorded vocals) in September 1974 by the ABBA musicians for their eponymous album ''ABBA''. The song was written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson and at one point had the working title "Stop and Listen to Your Heart".
