Tata Salt was launched in 1983 by Tata Chemicals as India's first packaged iodised salt brand. The brand is now the biggest packaged salt brand in India, with a market share of 17%. The Indian salt market As of June 2019, more than 90 thousand metric tonnes of Tata Salt is sold through over 65 lakh retail outlets reaching 161 million households across the country each month. The market for packaged iodized salt and other salts in India is estimated to be worth Rs. 21.7 billion, with Tata Salt commanding a sales share of Rs 3.74 billion or 17.3% of the market. Domestic competitors include Ankur, Annapurna, Sarbu, Captain Cook, i-shakti, Nirma Shudh and Aashirvaad. Natarajan Chandrasekaran
Natarajan Chandrasekaran (born 2 June 1963) is an Indian businessman, and the chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Group. He was chief operating officer (COO) and executive director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where in 2009, he became chief executive officer (CEO). He was also the chairman of Tata Motors and Tata Global Beverages (TGB). He became the first non-Parsi and professional executive to head the Tata Group. Iodised salt (American and British English spelling differences#-ise, -ize (-isation, -ization), also spelled iodized salt) is Salt#Edible salt, table salt mixed with a minute amount of various iodine salts. Nirma is a conglomerate based in Ahmedabad, India, involved in the manufacture of various products, including detergents, soaps, cement, cosmetics, salt, soda ash, linear alkyl benzene, and injectables. It was founded in 1969 by Karsanbhai Patel, a laboratory technician, as a one-man operation. Aashirvaad is a brand of staple food and kitchen ingredients owned by ITC Limited. The Aashirvaad brand was launched in 2002 and its range of products include Atta (flour), atta, salt, Spice, spices, List of instant foods, instant food mixes, dairy products, and superfoods.
