TU Dublin School Of Culinary Arts And Food Technology
The TU Dublin School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology (formerly DIT School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology) is a part of the Technological University Dublin (formerly Dublin Institute of Technology). History Originally opened as Saint Mary's College of Domestic Science in Cathal Brugha Street in 1941, it became the Dublin College of Catering in the 1950s. The Faculty of Tourism and Food was founded in 1977. In 1999, the School became the first culinary college to offer a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts. The School sits within the Faculty of Tourism and Food. When the Dublin Institute of Technology merged with IT Tallaght and IT Blanchardstown on 1 January 2019 to become Ireland's first Technological University, the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology became part of the TU Dublin City Campus. Grangegorman
Grangegorman () is an inner suburb on the northside of Dublin city, Ireland. The area is administered by Dublin City Council. It was best known for decades as the location of St Brendan's Hospital, which was the main psychiatric hospital serving the greater Dublin region. As of 2020, the area is the subject of a major redevelopment plan, running for more than a decade, under the aegis of the Grangegorman Development Agency, including the new Technological University Dublin campus. Grangegorman is also the name of a civil parish in the historical baronies of Dublin City and Coolock. Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire
Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire is an Irish lecturer and professional chef. He was awarded Ireland's first PhD on food history, in October 2009. Life A native of Blackrock, County Dublin, he attended Coláiste Eoin secondary school in Stillorgan finishing his Leaving Cert in 1986. He went on to UCD where he spent one academic year. In that time, Mac Con Iomaire was a keen member of UCD Boxing club. In his college summers, he worked on Cape Cod in the famous Kennedy Compound. Education Mac Con Iomaire trained at Dublin Institute of Technology, Cathal Brugha Street. From there, he began working in Dublin restaurants specialising in haute cuisine.
