Susan McLain
Susan McLain is an American politician. A Democrat, she currently serves as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from District 29, representing Cornelius, Forest Grove, and parts of Hillsboro. She served as a councilor for Metro, the regional government covering the urban portions of Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties, for 16 years, first winning election in 1990. She was an unsuccessful candidate for Washington County commissioner in 2006. She was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2014, defeating Republican Mark Richman. Personal life McLain earned a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching from the Oregon College of Education (known as Western Oregon University since April 22, 1981) in 1971. Ben Unger
Benjamin 'Ben' Unger (born March 4, 1976, in Cornelius, Oregon) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives representing District 29 from 2013 to 2015. He stands at over 6'7". Early life Unger was born on March 4, 1976, in Cornelius, Oregon, and was raised on a farm south of the city. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1994, Unger earned his BA degree in English from the University of Oregon. Prior to entering politics, he worked as a special assistant to the Oregon Attorney General. Political career In 2012, Unger won the District 29 Democratic Primary with 65.2% of the vote against Katie Riley. He won the November 6 General election with 11,312 votes (53.5%) against Republican nominee Katie Eyre. Hillsboro School District
The Hillsboro School District 1J is a unified school district located in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. The district operates 26 elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools. Founded in 1851, the school district covers Hillsboro, Scholls, Reedville, North Plains, West Union, and other area communities. Total enrollment as of the 2019–2020 school year is 20,269 students, the fourth largest in the state. The district is labeled 1J, as it absorbed the West Union School District, the first district in the county; the J (for "joint") represents that the district extends into other counties, Yamhill and Multnomah. Hillsboro's elementary schools had been District 7 prior to consolidation in 1996. The Republican and Democratic parties held primary elections on May 15, 2018 with general elections on November 6, 2018.
