Strongman Champions League
The Strongman Champions League is a Strongman competition circuit, with several Grand Prix events throughout the year and the Strongman Champions League overall champion title going to the overall winner at the end of the season. Fortissimus
The Fortissimus is a defunct event in strength athletics. The name means "the mightiest" and was a multi-event challenge at the end of which the winner is crowned as the "Strongest Man on Earth". It was set up to bring together the strongest competitors on the planet independent of the organisations to which they were signed, and also as a tribute to the nineteenth-century Canadian strongman Louis Cyr, which gave it many similarities to Le Defi Mark Ten International which last took place in Canada in the early 1990s. Ervin Katona
Ervin Katona (Serbian Cyrillic alphabet, Serbian Cyrillic: Ервин Катона; born 5 January 1977) is a Serbian-born Hungarians, Hungarian strongman (strength athlete), strongman competitor and regular entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition. He has competed in 99 International strongman competitions (fourth highest in history) and have won 17 of them, making him the seventh most decorated strongman in history. Biography Ervin Katona was a junior national kickboxing Glory champion in his youth. He later moved into the field of Strength athletics, and started weight training at the age of 25. He had soon won a number of Balkan titles and became the winner of the Serbia's Strongest Man title. Arnold Strongman Classic
The Arnold Strongman Classic is an annual competition featuring strength athletes from all over the world, determining who is the Strongest Man in the World. Created by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Lorimer and Terry Todd, it is an offshoot of the Arnold Sports Festival which takes place annually in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Widely regarded as the heaviest and the most difficult strongman competition in the world the Arnold Strongman Classic has been won by only 9 men in history. Among them, the Lithuanian Žydrūnas Savickas has won it 8 times, while the American Brian Shaw, the Icelander Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and the Canadian Mitchell Hooper have won it 3 times each. Rayno Nel
Rayno Nel (born 9 May 1995) is a South African strongman competitor from Krugersdorp and the reigning World's Strongest Man (WSM). He is also a two times Africa's Strongest Man, two times South Africa's Strongest Man and the defending Strongman Champions League world champion. Nel is the first WSM winner from South Africa, the continent of Africa and the southern hemisphere. Career Nel started his career as a Rugby player, playing for the Central University of Technology and Free State Cheetahs. In 2023, he tried strongman by participating in South Africa's Strongest Man competition, where he emerged victorious. With back-to-back victories, he was invited to the Siberian Power Show and the Strongman Champions League to compete alongside other leading international athletes. Andrus Murumets
Andrus Murumets (born 20 July 1978) is an Estonian strongman and entrant to the World's Strongest Man contest. He reached 5th in the World Rankings according to the IFSA rankings in 2008. Andrus competed in the IFSA World Championships in 2005 finishing 4th, 5th in 2006 and 5th in 2007. Andrus has competed in the Arnold Strongman Classic 3 times, his best finish was 3rd in 2007. In 2009 he became the overall champion of the Strongman Champions League. He has been described by Svend Karlsen as having the strongest grip in the world. Having competed in 40 International strongman competitions and winning 6 of them, Andrus is among the 50 most decorated strongmen of all time. Murumets lives near Tallinn in Üksnurme, Saku Parish. World's Strongest Man
The World's Strongest Man is an international strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year. Competitors qualify based on placing in the top three at the four to eight Giants Live events each year. The current event sponsor is SBD Apparel. The competition has been won by 25 men representing 14 nationalities. Three of the champions have been inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame. The International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA or IFSA Strongman) was an international governing body for strongman competition. IFSA operated from 1995 to 2007 and was based in Glasgow, Scotland. Martin Wildauer
Martin Wildauer (born 27 November 1987) is an Austrian strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition. He is a competitor of the well-known Strongman Champions League and the Giants Live competitions. Martin is the current world record holder in the Bavarian stonelift and was known for his deadlifting. Biography Martin was born in Kufstein, Tirol in Austria on 27 November 1987. He was a sports enthusiast even as a child and at the age of 10 started kickboxing. After winning some national competitions in Austria after two years he began boxing but due to school commitments he found he did not have the time to commit to boxing. Dennis Kohlruss
Dennis Kohlruss (born 14 May 1988) is a German strongman competitor from Rastatt and the reigning 4 x times Germany's Strongest Man. He's also a regular entrant to the Strongman Champions League and a seven time podium finisher. He has competed in 33 International strongman competitions and has won the 2020 SCL World Record Breakers and 2021 Megatron competitions. Nick Best
Nick Best (born November 3, 1968) is an American strongman and powerlifter. Powerlifting Prior to competing in strongman, Best won the USAPL National Powerlifting Championships in the 125 kg class in 1996 and 1997, as well as the WDFPF World Powerlifting Championships in 1996. Strongman Best started his strongman career in 2006 by participating at America's Strongest Man competition. The following year he won second place to Derek Poundstone. In 2008, he carried the legendary Jón Páll Sigmarsson Stone for for a new world record. In 2009 he participated at Strongman Super Series Romania Grand Prix and won second place in addition to winning Jesse Marunde Invitational. Eddie Hall
Edward Stephen Hall (born 15 January 1988) is an English media personality, retired strongman, and current mixed martial artist. He is best known for his then world-record setting deadlift. He is also known for winning 2017 World's Strongest Man competition. Hall has also won national competitions such as England's Strongest Man, Britain's Strongest Man, and UK's Strongest Man multiple times. In 2022, he was defeated by fellow World's Strongest Man Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson in a boxing match that was taglined "The Heaviest Boxing Match in History".
