''Stacklands'' is a card-based Construction and management simulation video game developed and published by indie developer Sokpop Collective. It was released for Microsoft Windows and macOS on 31 March 2022. In this game, the player stacks cards to craft resources, build structures, and fight creatures. Gameplay ''Stacklands'' is a card-based village building, management, and survival game that also carries roguelike elements. The player drags cards on a board and stacks them on top of each other to have them interact with each other and thus craft resources, collect food, build structures, and fight creatures. Dragging a villager card onto a berry bush card for instance will see the berries slowly harvested. The game starts with a single villager and a couple resources from which the player builds and grows a village over time. Sokpop Collective
Sokpop Collective, also known as simply Sokpop (Dutch for "sock puppet"), is an independent video game development studio located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The studio was founded in 2015 and consists of four people. The studio is run as a collective, with no formal leadership structure or managers, but a flat hierarchy where everyone works as equals. Sokpop is known for releasing one new game each month. They run a Patreon, where they sell these games through a subscription-like model, in addition to selling the games on Steam and Itch.io for non-patrons. A couple of their games have become hits, such as ''simmiland'' and '' Stacklands'', the latter of which won the "Best Innovation" award at the 2022 Dutch Game Awards.
