Skutskär
Skutskär is a bimunicipal locality and the seat of Älvkarleby Municipality in Uppsala County, Sweden with 6,075 inhabitants in 2010. According to the census of 2000 6,003 people lived in Skutskär, most of them in Älvkarleby Municipality, but a minor part in Gävle Municipality in Gävleborg County. History Originally Skutskär was the area south and south-east from the industries located there. The first record of Skutskär (Ship Reef) is done 1741 and describes an anchoring point for the industries of Harnäs. The industries in question are iron smelting furnaces in Harnäs (shut down in the 1910s) and later the saw mill and wood pulp mill Skutskärsverken owned by Stora Enso which is still one of the largest in the world. This mill and its subcontractors remains by far the largest employer in Skutskär and the surrounding area. Skutskärs IF is a bandy club in Skutskär, Sweden. The formal name of the club is ''Skutskärs IF/Bandyklubb''. The team colours are green and yellow. Älvkarleby Municipality () is a municipality in Uppsala County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Skutskär. The municipality is one of few in the country which has not been amalgamated since it was created out of a parish when the first local government acts of Sweden were implemented in 1863. The Dal River () is a river in central Sweden that flows from the north of Dalarna and runs into the sea in northern Uppland; it is commonly considered to be the southern border of Norrland, however only the last part correlates with Limes Norrlandicus (the biological Norrland border). Älvkarleby () is a locality situated in Älvkarleby Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 1,647 inhabitants in 2010. It is not the seat of the municipality, a function held by Skutskär 7 km to the north. People from Älvkarleby One of Sweden's most famous authors, Stig Dagerman was born in Älvkarleby on 5 October 1923 and spent his youth there. At the centenary of his birth in 2023, a park in Älvkarleby was named after Stig Dagerman and a statue was placed there.
