Seven (Winger Album)
''Seven'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band Winger. It marks the return of guitarist/keyboardist Paul Taylor to the band since 1990's ''In the Heart of the Young''. The album was preceded by the lead single "Proud Desperado". The band toured in the UK in May and the US in June 2023 in support of the album. Critical reception Writing for '' Classic Rock'', Johnny Sharp opined that Winger "are of course well aware of what their audience wants from them and have no need to reinvent themselves" and asked "who cares when the choruses are this big?" Winger (band)
Winger is an American heavy metal band that has combined elements of glam metal and progressive metal. Formed in New York City, Winger gained popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's two platinum albums, '' Winger'', and ''In the Heart of the Young'', along with charting singles " Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and " Miles Away", put them on the top of the charts by the early 1990s. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band". As the music scene changed in the early to mid-1990s due to the popularity of grunge, their success faded following their third release, '' Pull''. Winger disbanded in 1994. In 2001 they reunited and have since conducted several successful tours. Ted Jensen (born September 19, 1954) is an American mastering engineer, known for having mastered many recordings, including the Eagles' '' Hotel California'', Green Day's '' American Idiot'' and Norah Jones' '' Come Away with Me''. Biography Ted Jensen was born to Carl and Margaret (Anning) Jensen, both of whom were musicians. Carl had studied at Yale University. Margaret went to Oberlin College & Conservatory and Skidmore College and was also a pilot. Carl and Margaret met on a train while going to a choral workshop. Ted has one brother, Rick, and two daughters, Kristen and Kim. Tracy Silverman
Tracy Silverman (born April 7, 1960) is an American violinist, composer, and producer. Biography Born in Peekskill, New York and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin, he attended Beloit Memorial High School but left after two years when he was sixteen to enter the Chicago Musical College. He graduated from the Juilliard School and performs contemporary classical music, avant-garde jazz, and rock, mainly on the six-string electric violin as well as other fretted and fretless acoustic and electric instruments. He recorded his debut solo album for Windham Hill and appeared on many of the label's compilations. He was a violinist with the Turtle Island String Quartet and has performed with pianist Jim Brickman and composer Terry Riley. Rod Morgenstein
Rod Morgenstein (born April 19, 1953) is an American drummer and music educator. He is best known for his work with the rock bands Winger and Dixie Dregs. He also played with Fiona, Platypus, the Steve Morse Band, and Jelly Jam. He has also done session work with Jordan Rudess including his ventures with the Rudess/Morgenstein Project. He also toured with Jazz Is Dead. He has also been awarded ''Modern Drummer''s "Best Progressive Rock Drummer" five years (1986-'90), "Best All-Around Drummer" (1999) and was inducted into magazine's Honor Roll. John Roth (musician)
John Roth is an American guitarist, best known for his work with the rock bands Winger, Black Oak Arkansas, and Giant, has been touring and recording with national acts since the mid-1980s. Biography Roth got his start at the age of 19 when Jim Dandy, lead vocalist of Black Oak Arkansas, asked him to join the band as lead guitarist in 1986. After touring the U.S. and Canada with Black Oak in the mid 1980s, Roth joined forces with Survivor's lead vocalist Jimi Jamison in 1989 to record Jamison's first solo release ''When Love Comes Down''. The first single, "Rock Hard", co-written by Roth, was featured on the hit television series '' Baywatch''. Reb Beach
Richard Earl "Reb" Beach Jr. (born August 31, 1963) is an American rock guitarist. He is a member of the bands Winger and Whitesnake. Career After graduating from Fox Chapel Area High School and attending Berklee College of Music in the early 1980s, he played in Fiona's backing band and became an accomplished studio musician, working with the likes of Howard Jones, Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, Twisted Sister, and Roger Daltrey, among others, showcasing Beach's ability to adapt to various musical styles. While working with Fiona, he was introduced to Kip Winger, who was touring with Alice Cooper at the time. Eventually they formed the band Sahara along with Rod Morgenstein and Paul Taylor, which was later renamed to Winger. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
