SaveEasy (formerly ''Atlantic Save-Easy'') was a chain of small retail grocery store Chain store, franchises in the Atlantic Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, owned by Loblaw Companies. The chain was owned by Atlantic Wholesalers, Atlantic Wholesalers Ltd. of Sackville, New Brunswick, and the first SaveEasy opened in 1959, followed by rapid expansion to quickly become the region's second-largest grocery banner, behind Sobeys. Loblaws entered the Maritime provinces in 1976 when they purchased Atlantic Wholesalers. During a period of restructuring SaveEasy stores introduced Loblaw house brands such as No Name (brand), No Name during the recession of the early 1980s, and SaveEasy's logo was updated to match the Loblaws logo. Real Atlantic Superstore is a Canadian supermarket chain. The chain operates in the Maritimes, the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. It is owned by George Weston Limited through Loblaw Companies Limited, and operates under the Atlantic Wholesalers division of Loblaws. Provigo is a grocery retailer based in Quebec, Canada, consisting of over 300 stores and franchises throughout the province. It operates a retailing chain of stores and distribution warehouses. It is owned by Loblaw Companies Limited. The chain's advertising slogan is "''Si vite, si bon!''" ("So quick, so good!") History In 1969, in response to Canadian and American competition, a consortium of four Quebec wholesalers merged their activities with the intent to save costs and establish services as a big company. Your Independent Grocer (YIG), known colloquially as "Independent" or "Yours" is a supermarket chain in Canada with more than 100 locations. It has stores in every province and territory except Manitoba, Nunavut, and Quebec. It is a unit of National Grocers, itself a unit of Loblaw Companies Limited. Stores are typically operated by a franchise owner. Many of the stores were originally Ottawa-area outlets of the defunct Quebec-based Steinberg's grocery chain. No Frills (currently styled ''NOFRILLS'' and formerly styled ''nofrills'') is a Canadian chain of discount supermarkets, owned by Loblaw Companies Limited, a subsidiary of George Weston Limited. There are over 300 franchise stores located in nine Canadian provinces. History The first No Frills store was a converted Loblaws outlet slated for closure. The store opened on July 5, 1978, in East York, Toronto. While it offered a very limited range of goods and basic customer service, the store promoted discount prices. SuperValu is a chain of franchised and independent grocery stores in Canada that currently operates in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. Background Founded in British Columbia in 1951 by Loblaw Companies Limited as a chain of independently-owned supermarkets supplied by Loblaws' wholesale subsidiary, Kelly Douglas & Company. In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, many SuperValu stores were created from former Loblaws corporate stores as the banner expanded across western Canada. Balmoral, New Brunswick
Balmoral is a community in the village of Bois-Joli in Restigouche County, New Brunswick. It held village status prior to 2023 and is now part of the village of Bois-Joli. It is approximately 10 kilometres south of Dalhousie. Balmoral also contains the neighbourhoods of Blair Athol, Saint-Maure, Selwood, and Upper Balmoral. History The area was settled in the 1850s by Joseph Drapeau. When a later contingent of settlers from Scotland arrived, they gave the community its present name after Balmoral Castle.
