Ryo Sakazaki
is a player character, character introduced in the 1992 fighting game ''Art of Fighting (video game), Art of Fighting'' developed by SNK. In the series, Ryo is depicted as a skilled martial artist who practices his family's fighting style, , taught by his father Art of Fighting#Takuma Sakazaki, Takuma. After his younger sister Yuri Sakazaki, Yuri disappears, Ryo and his best friend Robert Garcia (Art of Fighting), Robert Garcia search Southtown to find her, facing several opponents along the way. is a fighting game released by SNK on arcades on 24 September 1992. It was eventually ported to the Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD, PC Engine Arcade CD-ROM², Sega Genesis, and SNES. The game follows two Karate users known as Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia (Art of Fighting), Robert Garcia as they travel to fight criminals from the Southtown city in order to find Ryo's missing sister Yuri. The game employs special moves and stronger Desperation Moves that can be performed strategically by filling the player's energy bar and removing enemies by taunting them. The game originated from Hiroshi Matsumoto's desire to create his own fighting game while making high emphasis on the storytelling. Yasuyuki Oda
(born 1972) is a Japanese game designer. Oda showed an interest in gaming during his childhood that led him to study animations when growing up. He debuted as a developer for SNK, doing debugs of certain games while being a major planner in ''Garou: Mark of the Wolves''. In 2000, he moved Dimps to later work once again in SNK in mid-2010s to direct ''The King of Fighters XIV'' and other installments from SNK's properties.
