Rukungiri District
Rukungiri District is a district in the Western Region of Uganda. The town of Rukungiri is the site of the district headquarters. Location The district is bordered by Lake Edward to the North West, Rubirizi District to the northeast, Mitooma District to the northeast and east, Ntungamo District to the east and southeast, Rukiga District and Rubanda District to the south, Kanungu District to the west, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo via Lake Edward to the northwest. The district headquarters are approximately , by road, south-west of Kampala, Uganda's capital city. Districts Of Uganda
As of 1 July 2020, Uganda is divided into 135 districts plus the capital city of Kampala, which are grouped into four Regions of Uganda, geographic regions. Since 2005, the Ugandan government has been in the process of dividing districts into smaller units. This decentralization is intended to prevent resources from being distributed primarily to chief towns and leaving the remainder of each district neglected. Each district is further divided into Counties of Uganda, counties and municipalities, and each county is further divided into Sub-counties of Uganda, sub-counties. Henry Tumukunde
Henry Tumukunde is a politician and retired senior military officer of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF). He ran as an independent candidate for president in the 2021 Ugandan general election. He was the Minister of National Security in the Cabinet of Uganda, appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. On 4 March 2018, he was relieved of his duties in an unexpected cabinet reshuffle. He is also an advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He has served as the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Director of Planning, Chief of Personnel and Administration, Chief of Military Intelligence as well as serving as the commanding officer of the UPDF Fourth Division, based in Gulu in the Northern Region of Uganda. Aronda Nyakairima
Aronda Nyakairima (7 July 1959 – 12 September 2015) was a Ugandan military officer and politician who served in the cabinet of Uganda as minister of internal affairs from 2013 until his death on 11 September 2015. Previously, he served as the chief of defence forces in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) from 2003 to 2013. Early life and education Nyakairima was born in Rukungiri District. Jim Muhwezi
Major General (retired) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu is a Ugandan lawyer, politician and former military officer. He has served as the Cabinet Minister for National Security, in the Ugandan Cabinet, since 8 June 2021. From March 2015 until May 2016, he served as the Minister of Information and National Guidance in the Cabinet of Uganda. He had been appointed to that position in a cabinet reshuffle on 1 March 2015, replacing Rose Namayanja, who was dropped from the cabinet. The Uganda men's national lacrosse team, also known as the Lacrosse Cranes, represents Uganda in international lacrosse competitions and is governed by the Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA), which is a full member of World Lacrosse, the international governing body for lacrosse. Civic engagement or civic participation is any individual or group activity addressing issues of public concern. Civic engagement includes communities working together or individuals working alone in both political and non-political actions to protect public values or make a change in a community. The goal of civic engagement is to address public concerns and promote the quality of the community. Brian Mushana Kwesiga (born 1987) is a Ugandan-born engineer, author, and civic leader. He is the former President and CEO of the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) and previously served as the General Manager of the Uganda men's national lacrosse team. Early life and education Kwesiga was born in 1987 at Nyakibale Hospital in Rujumbura County, Rukungiri District, Southwestern Uganda. He completed his O-level education at Kibuli Secondary School in Kampala before moving to the United States at the age of 15. He lost both parents at a young age.
