Roseby Gadama
Roseby Gadama became the Malawian member of parliament for Zomda Thondwe in 2019. She is the chair of the Malawi Parliamentary Women's Caucus and she sits on the Public Accounts Committee. Life Gadama was born in Mulanje in eastern Malawi. She became the member of parliament for the Zomba Thondwe Constituency in the 2019 Malawian general election. She wanted to represent the Democratic Progressive Party,but she stood as an independent after protests involving tear gasand gunfire during the primaries. Some would have preferred a male candidate and that is who won the DPP's backing. At one point,six car of police arrived, her car was hit with a bullet, but she had changed cars. Gadama was to later quote an academic study which confirmed that women are discriminated against in Malawi's primary elections. Mulanje
Mulanje, formerly called Mlanje, is a town in the Southern Region, Malawi, Southern Region of Malawi, close to the border with Mozambique, to the east. It is near the Mulanje Massif. History A mission was established here and it was at first on the banks of the mountain. It moved in 1928 to new buildings which included staff houses, a small maternity based hospital and a school. 1950 saw the construction of a place for trainee midwives to live and eight years later an operating theatre was built. 1972 saw a new block for maternity, 1980 a ward for children and in 1999 it could claim to be a full hospital as it opened a ward for men. Mary Mpanga
Mary Connie Livuza Mpanga is a politician in Malawi. She represents Phalombe South in the National Assembly of Malawi. Life Mpanga was first elected in 2009 and she became a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). She is a member of the Malawi Parliamentary Women's Caucus. Mpanga was an independent MP but following the 2019 election she was among a group of MPs including Naomi Phiri who agreed to support the Democratic Progressive Party. She represents Phalombe South in the National Assembly of Malawi. In 2024 she was an opposition MP when she was unanimously appointed to be a Parliamentary Service Commissioner. Lilian Patel
Lilian Estella Patel (born 2 February 1951) is a Malawian politician. She has represented Mangochi District, Mangochi South in the National Assembly (Malawi), National Assembly for the United Democratic Front (Malawi), United Democratic Front (UDF) since 2014 and previously from 1994 to 2009. She has served as a minister with a number of portfolios. In 2024 she was appointed as the Chair of the UDF. Patrick Grady
Patrick John Grady (born 5 February 1980) is a Scottish politician. He was elected at the 2015 UK general election as the Scottish National Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow North. He was re-elected in 2017 and in 2019, but did not stand again in 2024, after not being allowed to contest nomination to be the SNP candidate. Early life Grady was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.
