Robert Dowhan (born 14 July 1967) is a Polish politician from the Civic Coalition (Poland), Civic Coalition. He was elected to the 9th term Sejm and 10th term Senate of Poland, Senate of Poland (10th term) representing the constituency of Zielona Góra. He was also elected to the 8th term (2011–2015) and 9th term (2015–2019) of the Senate of Poland. In the 2023 Polish parliamentary election he was elected to the Sejm from Sejm Constituency no. 8, Zielona Góra. Civic Coalition (Poland)
The Civic Coalition ( pl, Koalicja Obywatelska, KO)) is a catch-all political alliance in Poland. The alliance was formed around Civic Platform in opposition to the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party. The coalition's name uses a play on words with ''Ja Obywatel'', which translates to "I, Citizen". History The Civic Coalition was originally created by the Civic Platform and Modern parties for 2018 local elections. In June 2019, it was announced that the Civic Coalition would be slated to participate in the 2019 Polish parliamentary election and Civic Platform and Modern will form a joint parliamentary club. 2023 Polish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections will be held in Poland in late 2023 to elect members of the Sejm and Senate, although they can be held sooner if a snap election is called, which last occurred in 2007. The previous election, in 2019, resulted in the re-election of a majority Law and Justice government, albeit without a majority in the Senate. Electoral system The process of election for the Sejm is through party-list proportional representation via the D'hondt method in multi-seat constituencies, with a 5% threshold for single parties and 8% threshold for coalitions (with the requirements waived for national minorities). The date of the election will be set by the President of Poland (consistent with constitutional requirements, whereby the election may be held 30 days before the fourth anniversary of the beginning the current convocation of Parliament, on a non-working day, including public holidays).
