Richard Mason (film Producer)
Richard Mason (1926–2002) was an Australian film producer and director. He was born on the South Coast of New South Wales, the son of a parson. During the Second World War he guarded Italian Prisoners of War. After the war he joined Sydney's Mercury Theatre as an actor, co-starring in Molière's play, ''The Imaginary Invalid''. However, he soon moved to film, starting as a wardrobe assistant for ''Eureka Stockade'' (1949), then as an assistant at the Colorfilm lab, before joining the Commonwealth Film Unit (now Screen Australia). He remained with the Commonwealth Film Unit, which then became Film Australia, for many years before resigning in 1978 over the Australian government's political censorship of '' The Unknown Industrial Prisoner''. Once independent, he produced ''Winter of Our Dreams'' (1981), '' Far East'' (1982), and '' One Night Stand'' (1984). Mason died in Sydney on 22 November 2002. Parson
A parson is an ordained Christian person responsible for a small area, typically a parish. The term was formerly often used for some Anglican clergy and, more rarely, for ordained ministers in some other churches. It is no longer a formal term denoting a specific position within Anglicanism, but has some continued historical and colloquial use. In the pre-Reformation church, a parson was the priest of an independent parish church, that is, a church not under the control of a larger ecclesiastical or monastic organization. The term is similar to rector and is in contrast to a vicar, a cleric whose revenue is usually, at least partially, appropriated by a larger organisation. Jean-Baptiste Poquelin (; 15 January 1622 (baptised) – 17 February 1673), known by his stage name Molière (, ; ), was a French playwright, actor, and poet, widely regarded as one of the great writers in the French language and world literature. His extant works include comedies, farces, Tragicomedy, tragicomedies, comédie-ballets, and more. ''The Imaginary Invalid'', ''The Hypochondriac'', or ''The Would-Be Invalid'' ( French title ''Le Malade imaginaire'', ) is a three- act ''comédie-ballet'' by the French playwright Molière with dance sequences and musical interludes ( H.495, H.495 a, H.495 b) by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. It premiered on 10 February 1673 at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal in Paris and was originally choreographed by Pierre Beauchamp. Molière had fallen out with the powerful court composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, with whom he had pioneered the ''comédie-ballet'' form a decade earlier, and had opted for the collaboration with Charpentier. ''Eureka Stockade'' is a 1949 British film of the story surrounding Irish-Australian rebel and politician Peter Lalor and the gold miners' rebellion of 1854 at the Eureka Stockade in Ballarat, Victoria, in the Australian Western genre. Starring Chips Rafferty, it was produced by Ealing Studios and directed by Harry Watt, following their success with ''The Overlanders''.
