Retiro (Line E Buenos Aires Underground)
Retiro is the terminus station on Line E of the Buenos Aires Underground. The station is part of the larger Retiro railway station which connects to the Mitre, San Martín and Belgrano railways, as well as their corresponding commuter rail lines. The station was opened on 3 June 2019 as part of the extension of the line from Bolívar . Overview Passengers are able to transfer to the Retiro Station on Line C, and eventually Retiro Station on Line G and Retiro Station on Line H once they are completed. It connects to the Retiro railway station which serves as the central terminal for the General San Martín Railway and General Mitre Railway and their respective commuter rail services, as well as the Belgrano Norte Line. The Mitre line is an Argentine broad gauge commuter rail service in Buenos Aires Province and is part of the Ferrocarril General Bartolomé Mitre division. The service is currently operated by the State-owned company Operadora Ferroviaria Sociedad del Estado after the Government of Argentina rescinded its contract with Corredores Ferroviarios in March 2015. Retiro bus station ( es, Terminal de Ómnibus de Retiro) is the main bus terminal in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is situated in the Retiro district, two blocks north of Retiro railway station. Overview The station was commissioned in 1980 by the municipal government under Mayor Osvaldo Cacciatore. Line H is a line of the Buenos Aires Underground. The first phase, between Plaza Once and Caseros, which opened on 18 October 2007, currently stretches over 8.8 km between Hospitales and Facultad de Derecho stations. It is the first entirely new line built in Buenos Aires since the opening of Line E on 20 June 1944. Line G is a planned addition to the Buenos Aires Underground which has been on the drawing board in numerous forms since the 1930s. After a failed attempt at financing and building the line in 2009, its most recent proposal was put forward in 2015 by the government of Buenos Aires.
