Raameshwor Shrestha (Nepali:रामेश्वर श्रेष्ठ), popularly known by the name of Raamesh, is a progressive songwriter and singer of Nepal. He is most popular for his song Gaun Gaun Bata Utha. Biography Shrestha was born in Palpa district. He was brought up in Doti and schooled in Sindhupalchok and Kathmandu. His singing career started in the early 1970s when he, Raayan ''Raayan'' is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Dhanush. Produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, the film stars Dhanush in the titular role, alongside Dushara Vijayan, S. J. Suryah, Sundeep Kishan ..., Manjul and Aarim came together to sing progressive songs. After 1990, the group drifted apart. During maoist movement in Nepal, the genere was titled ''Janabad''. ''Gaun Gaun Bata Utha'' () is a Nepali-language revolutionary song by music duo Raamesh and Rayan and written and composed by Shyam Tamot. The song is also known as ''Sankalpa'' (resolution/ vow) song. The song has been translated into 17 national and foreign languages including Chinese, French and Hindi. The song served as an anthem during the 1979 Nepalese student protests as well as many other protests in Nepal. Palpa District (, a part of Lumbini Province, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia.
