The Pacific Imperial Railroad (reporting mark PIR) was a company in possession of the SD&AE Desert Line right of way in Southern California, colloquially referred to as the Desert Line. The Desert Line starts at the border crossing at Division, near Campo at Milepost 59.94 (inside Tunnel #4) in eastern San Diego County, California, where it connects with the Baja California Railroad in Mexico, and stretches 70.1 miles through the Jacumba Mountains to El Centro, California, where it connects to Union Pacific Railroad at Milepost 129.61. Pierre Regional Airport is a public airport three miles east of Pierre, in Hughes County, South Dakota. Pre-Islamic Recent Period
The Recent Pre-Islamic Period (''période préislamique récente'', abbreviated PIR) is an archaeological assemblage which is manifest in the few centuries around the year 0 in the lower Persian Gulf. It was discovered in the mid 1970s by Iraqi archaeologists. Some nine such sites are known at present especially ed-Dur in the Emirate Umm al-Qaiwain, and Mlayḥa, Mleiha in Sharjah in the Oman peninsula. Since the mid 1980s different teams studied especially these two sites, which are the largest in terms of surface area. They contain settlements, religious and industrial areas as well as cemeteries loosely scattered over a wide area. Mlayḥa forms an irregularly shaped surface of c. 4 km2. Two PIR sites have been identified in Central Oman, at Samāʾil/al-Bārūnī and at ʿAmlāʾ/al-Fuwaydah. Striking are forts some 50m in width with corner bastions and casemate walls. Portland International Raceway
Portland International Raceway (PIR) is a motorsport facility in Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is part of the Delta Park complex on the former site of Vanport, just south of the Columbia River. It lies west of the Delta Park/Vanport light rail station and less than a mile west of Interstate 5. The track hosts the IndyCar Series, ICSCC and SCCA and OMRRA road racing, the NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series West, and SCCA autocross events. Additionally, the PIR grounds are host to OBRA (Oregon Bicycle Racing Association) bicycling races on the track and the surrounding grounds. The facility includes a dragstrip and a motocross track. Pir Roshan
Bāyazīd Khān Ansārī (; – 1585), commonly known as Pīr Rōshān or Pīr Rōkhān, was an Afghan warrior, Sufi pir and revolutionary leader. He wrote mostly in Pashto, but also in Persian, Urdu and Arabic. His mother tongue was Ormuri. He is known for founding the Roshani movement, which gained many followers in present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan, and produced numerous Pashto poets and writers. Pir Roshan created a Pashto alphabet, derived from the Arabic script with 13 new letters. A modified version of this alphabet continues to be used to write Pashto. Pir Roshan wrote '' Khayr al-Bayān'', one of the earliest known books containing Pashto prose. Phoenix Raceway (formerly known as ISM Raceway from 2018–2020, Phoenix International Raceway from 1964–1973 and 1976–2017, and FasTrack International Speedway from 1973–1976) is a dogleg oval track in Avondale, Arizona. The track has held a variety of events since its opening in 1964, including NASCAR, IndyCar, and CART races. It has seating capacity of 42,000 as of 2019.
