Piknik (band)
Picnic (), or Piknik, is a Russian rock band known for its unique style, a mixture of art rock, progressive rock and original Russian rock. The band was formed in 1978 in Leningrad, though the members consider the band's official starting point to be Edmund Shklyarsky's arrival, in 1981, or the year the first album was recorded—1982. Some of their early songs are in Polish, due to Shklyarsky's paternal heritage. Agatha Christie () was a Soviet and Russian rock band. Formed in 1984 by Vadim Samoylov, Alexander Kozlov, and Peter Mai in Sverdlovsk. under the name VIA RTF UPI (Russian: ВИА РТФ УПИ) the band changed their name to Agatha Christie, after the detective fiction author, in 1988 and went on to become one of the most notable Russian rock acts in the mid to late 1990s. Crocus City Hall Attack
On 22 March 2024, a coordinated terrorist attack against civilians occurred at the Crocus City Hall music venue in Crocus City, Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. The attack began at around 20:00 Moscow Time, MSK (UTC+3), shortly before the Russian band Picnic (band), Picnic was scheduled to play a sold-out show at the venue. Four terrorists associated with Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS–KP or ISIS-K) carried out a mass shooting, as well as Stabbing as a terrorist tactic, slashing attacks on the people gathered at the venue, and used incendiary devices to set the venue on fire. Investigators said 145 people had been killed (including those who died later in hospital), and more than 551 concertgoers injured by gunfire or suffering from burns. The Crocus City Hall () is a music venue in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is part of the Crocus City development, which also includes the Crocus City Mall, Crocus Expo and . It is dedicated to Muslim Magomayev (1942–2008), a Soviet singer born in present-day Azerbaijan. The venue was developed by Crocus Group, owned by Aras Agalarov, and opened on 25 October 2009. The venue has been closed since the Crocus City Hall attack on 22 March 2024, which killed at least 145 people, and whether or not it should reopen is being debated. Crocus refers to brightly colored, seasonal flowers that grow in the spring from a bulb. The venue had a capacity of as much as 10,000 people.
