''Moskovskij Komsomolets'' (''MK''; ) is a Moscow-based daily newspaper with a circulation approaching one million, covering general news. Founded in 1919, it is famed for its topical reporting on Russian politics and society. History The newspaper was first published by the Moscow Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol) on 11 December 1919 as ''Yunyi Kommunar'' (). Over the next years it changed its name several time, starting a few months after the first issue when it became the ''Yunosheskaya Pravda'' (). In 1924, after Vladimir Lenin's death, it was renamed to ''Molodoy Leninets'' (). It took its present-day name in September 1929. Between 1931 and 1939, the paper ceased publication. It was revived in 1940, but not for long: World War II interrupted publishing again in August 1941. Publishing resumed only on 2 October 1945. Olga Yurievna Batalina (; ; born 8 November 1975 in Saratov) is a Russian politician of the United Russia party. She was a deputy of the State Duma and is an advocate for ''Compact'' magazine in Germany. She is known for her stance against homosexuality in Russia. Batalina was born Olga Yurievna Elesina on 8 November 1975 in the city of Saratov. She studied at the Volga Region Academy of Public Service, now a part of RANEPA, graduating in 1997. She obtained a Candidate of Sciences in economics in 2002. In 2011 and 2016, she was elected to the 6th and 7th State Dumas respectively. The Levada Center is a Russian independent, nongovernmental polling and sociological research organization. It is named after its founder, the first Russian professor of sociology Yuri Levada (1930–2006). The center traces back its history to 1987 when the All-Union Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) was founded under the leadership of academician Tatyana Zaslavskaya. Echo of Moscow () was a 24/7 commercial Russian radio station based in Moscow. It broadcast in many Russian cities, some of the former Soviet republics (through partnerships with local radio stations), and via the Internet. From 1996 its editor-in-chief was Alexei Venediktov. Sergei Vladimirovich Zheleznyak (; born 1970) is a Russian politician. In 2007 he was elected as a member of State Duma and became its Deputy Chairman in June 2012. He was a member of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs. Prior to his political career he was an advertising, media, and public relations executive.
