Crocus City Hall Attack
On 22 March 2024, a coordinated terrorist attack by Islamic terrorism, Islamic terrorists against civilians occurred at the Crocus City Hall music venue in Crocus City, Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. The attack began at around 20:00 Moscow Time, MSK (UTC+3), shortly before the Russian band Picnic (band), Picnic was scheduled to play a sold-out show at the venue. Four terrorists associated with Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS–KP or ISIS-K) carried out a mass shooting, as well as Stabbing as a terrorist tactic, slashing attacks on the people gathered at the venue, and used incendiary devices to set the venue on fire. Investigators said 145 people had been killed (including those who died later in hospital), and more than 551 concertgoers injured by gunfire or suffering from burns. The Crocus City Hall (russian: Крокус-Сити-холл) is a music venue administratively located in ''Krasnogorsk Urban Settlement'' (near the city of Krasnogorsk) in the Krasnogorsky District (north-west to Moscow Ring Road). Crocus City Mall is a shopping mall located in Krasnogorsk, a western suburb of Moscow, Russia. Development Developed by Aras Agalarov's Crocus International, the site is located near the Moscow Oblast Administrative HQ, just outside Moscow's MKAD ring road. Built of natural stone in a mixture between neo-classical and oriental architectural styles, the two-storey building opened in 2002. Transport The paid for the Moscow Metro railway station at Myakinino to be additionally planned and built on the extension of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line, located between Volokolamskaya and Strogino stations. Islamic State – Khorasan Province
The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (; ISKP) is an affiliate of the Islamic State militant group active in South Asia and Central Asia. Some media sources also use the terms ISK (or IS–K), ISISK (or ISIS–K), IS–KP, Daesh–Khorasan or Daesh–K in referring to the group. ISKP has been active in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, where they claimed attacks. The ISKP and Taliban consider each other enemies.
