Peter Tschentscher (2018)
Peter Tschentscher (; born 20 January 1966) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD). Since 28 March 2018 he has been the List of mayors of Hamburg, First Mayor of Hamburg. As First Mayor, he is head of the Second Tschentscher senate, current government of the city-state. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament. From 2011 until 2018 he served as State Minister of Finance in the Senate Scholz I, first and Senate Scholz II, second governments of Olaf Scholz. Early life and education Tschentscher graduated from high school in Oldenburg (city), Oldenburg in 1985. He later studied medicine and molecular biology at the University of Hamburg, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1995. From 1994 until 2008 he practised as a physician at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. Second Tschentscher Senate
The second Tschentscher senate was the state government of Hamburg from 10 June 2020 to 7 May 2025. Sworn in on 10 June 2020 after Peter Tschentscher was elected as list of mayors of Hamburg, first mayor by the members of the Hamburg Parliament. On 7 May 2025 Peter Tschentscher was reelected first mayor of Hamburg, forming the Third Tschentscher senate. It was the 30th Senate of Hamburg.
