Partenavia Construzioni Aeronautiche was an Italian aircraft manufacturer that specialised in general aviation. The company operated between 1957 and 1998. Founded by Professor Luigi Pascale, Partenavia became a limited company in 1959, and was acquired by the Italian state-owned aerospace firm Aeritalia during 1981. During the 1980s, the firm concentrated activity on the production of two aircraft, the Partenavia P.68, P.68 twin-engined multi-mission transport and the Partenavia Oscar, P.66C Charlie trainer aircraft. During 1991, Partenavia was sold to ''Aercosmos''; seven years later, the firm was declared bankrupt and was dissolved. Much of its assets were acquired by rival aircraft manufacturer Vulcanair, who continued the production and development of some parts of the company's former product range. Vulcanair
Vulcanair is an Italian aircraft manufacturer based in Casoria, near Naples. History Partenavia was established in 1957 by Prof. Luigi Pascale and produced a quite large family of single-engined sport aircraft which eventually culminated with the successful twin-engined Partenavia P.68, P.68 Victor and its derivatives. The Vulcanair Canguro, Canguro was designed by aeronautical engineer Stelio Frati in the 1970s (first flight on December 30, 1978) for Siai Marchetti that, in 1981, developed the SF.600A version, with turboprop engine, retractable landing gear and cargo capability with lateral sliding door or hinged rear fuselage. Partenavia Oscar
The Partenavia P.64B/P.66B Oscar is an Italian two/four-seat, single-engined, high-wing monoplane built by Partenavia. Development Developed as an all-metal version of the P.57 Fachiro, the prototype was designated the P.64 Fachiro III and first flew on 2 April 1965. Improvements were made to the design, mainly to the rear fuselage to fit a panoramic rear window, and now renamed the P.64B Oscar B it first flew in 1967. Also known as the Oscar 180 powered by a 180 hp Lycoming O-360-A1A piston engine, a 200 hp version (with a Lycoming O-360-A1B engine) was known as the Oscar-200. Twenty-one aircraft were delivered to South Africa and assembled by AFIC (Pty) Limited and marketed as the AFIC RSA 200 Falcon. Partenavia Fachiro
The Partenavia P.57 Fachiro is an Italian, four-seat, high-wing, touring monoplane, fitted with a fixed tricycle undercarriage. Design and development The P.57 was designed and built by Partenavia. The Lycoming O-320 powered Fachiro I first flew on 7 November 1958, followed by the Fachiro II, on 3 January 1959. A later version, designated the II-f, introduced a swept fin and rudder. The Fachiro utilises mixed steel tube-and-fabric construction and is fitted with a engine for aero club and general aviation use. A one-off, all-metal version, the P.64 Fachiro III, was further developed as the P.64 Oscar. Luigi Pascale
Luigi Pascale (1923 – 14 March 2017) was an Italian engineer designer of light aircraft. He was the founder of the aircraft manufacturers Partenavia and Tecnam, the latter a company he started with his brother Giovanni Pascale, Giovanni. Biography Luigi "Gino" Pascale was born in Naples, Italy in 1923. He teamed with his brother Giovanni to design and construct several light aircraft. The first completed design was the Partenavia Astore in 1948. In 1951 Pascale received a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, after which he became an instructor at Naples University. He was elevated to rank of Professor by 1957, when he founded the Italian aircraft design/manufacturing firm Partenavia. In 1986 the two Pascale brothers founded the Italian aircraft design/manufacturing firm Tecnam. Pascale died on 14 March 2017 in his house in Naples, aged 93. Partenavia Mosquito
__NOTOC__ The Partenavia P.86 Mosquito was a two-seat civil trainer aircraft first flown in Italy on 27 April 1986.Taylor 1988, p. 160. It was a high-wing monoplane of pod-and-boom construction with tricycle undercarriage and a twin tail, that accommodated the student and instructor side-by-side. In 1988, Partenavia created the Aviolight company as a joint venture with two other partners in order to produce the aircraft, with an initial series of 100 aircraft to be powered by a 56 kW (75 hp) Limbach L2000, with modifications to allow certification. Nothing came of it, and the prototype was the only example produced. Partenavia itself was declared bankrupt the same year.
