Pares, Antigua And Barbuda
Pares is a small town in central Antigua. it is located to the north of Potworks Dam and south of the township of Parham on the road between Freemans and Willikies. History Sugar John Pare owned 153 acres and died in 1757. Rachel Warner, the wife of Ashton Warner (d. 1789) held 153 acres in 1803 and was the daughter of John Pare. The slave registration listed 13 children, 89 women, and 63 men in 1787. Samuel Otto-Baijer, member of council and chief baron of Court of Exchequer, was born in Pares on May 1, 1782, and died in Philadelphia on December 20, 1835, at the age of 54. Bernard Pares
Sir Bernard Pares KBE (1 March 1867 – 17 April 1949) was an English historian and diplomat. During the First World War, he was seconded to the Foreign Ministry in Petrograd, Russia, where he reported political events back to London, and worked in propaganda. He returned to London as professor of Russian history. He is best known for his numerous books on Russia, especially his standard textbook, ''A History of Russia'' (1926), which had highly detailed coverage of the revolutionary era. He was a very active public speaker in the 1940s in support of Stalin's Soviet Union. Doce Pares (Spanish for ''Twelve Peers'') is a Filipino martial art and a form of Arnis, Kali and Eskrima, that focuses primarily on stick fighting, knife fighting and hand-to-hand combat but also covers grappling and other weapons as well. In reality, the stick is merely considered an extension of the hand, and is meant to represent almost any weapon, from sticks to swords to knives to anything else you can place in your hand and use as a weapon in the modern context. ''Pares'' (pronounced: ), also known as beef ''pares'', is a term for a serving of Filipino braised beef stew with garlic fried rice, and a bowl of clear soup. It is a popular food particularly associated with specialty roadside diner-style establishments known as ''Pares Houses'' (or ''paresan'' in Filipino, akin to ''tapsihan'' for tapsilog) that specialize in serving these type of meals. In recent years, it had also become a common dish served in small eateries called '' karinderya or carinderia'' that serve economical meals for local residents. Informally, ''Pares'' can also refer to any dish that is cooked in the manner reminiscent of the "asado-style" (i.e. stewed in a sweet-soy sauce). Canon Rev. Norman Pares (16 June 1857 – 23 June 1936) was an English canon and amateur footballer who was on the winning side in the 1879 FA Cup Final. Richard Pares
Richard Pares (25 August 1902 – 3 May 1958) was a British historian. He "was considered to be among the outstanding British historians of his time." Family life and education The eldest son of the five children of the historian Bernard Pares (1867–1949) and his wife Margaret Ellis, Richard Pares won scholarships at Winchester College and at Balliol College, Oxford, where he took a first-class degree in ''literae humaniores'' in 1924. On obtaining his Oxford degree, he was elected to a fellowship of All Souls College, Oxford, which he retained until 1945. In 1937, he married Janet Lindsay Powicke, daughter of the historian F. Maurice Powicke, and had four daughters. John Pares Craine
John Pares Craine (June 28, 1911 - December 24, 1977) was the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Indianapolis in The Episcopal Church, serving from 1959 until his death on Christmas Eve in 1977, shortly before his scheduled retirement. He supported the ordination of women. Early life and education Carine was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28, 1911, to John Lee Craine and Hilda B. Wright. Lady Susan Jellicoe ( Pares; 30 June 1907 – 1 August 1986) was an English plantswoman, photographer, writer, and editor who worked in collaboration with her husband, the landscape architect Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe.
