Pangasinan Heatwaves
The Pangasinan Heatwaves are a Filipino professional basketball team based in the province of Pangasinan. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division. The team splits its home games between Calasiao Sports Complex in Calasiao and Robert B. Estrella Sr. Memorial Stadium in Rosales. The team began play in the 2024 MPBL season as part of the league's Northern Luzon expansion. They also compete in the Pilipinas Super League under the name Pangasinan Abono Reapers. Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's regional professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of 30 teams. Founded in 2017 by eight-division boxing world champion and then-Senator Manny Pacquiao, the MPBL is not intended to be a competitor to the top-flight Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), but rather to provide a gateway for local, homegrown talents to showcase their skills. The league uses a home-and-away format, similar to the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association. The MPBL started an amateur league before being granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. Alaminos, Pangasinan
Alaminos, officially the City of Alaminos (; ; Sambal: ''Babali nin Alaminos''; ), is a component city in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines, and is known for being the home of the Hundred Islands National Park, which is composed of 124 islands and is located off the coast of Barangay Lucap. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 99,397 people. The city is named after Juan Alaminos y de Vivar, a former governor-general of the Philippines. In 2009, it was announced that Alaminos Airport would be built near the city as a commercial airport for Pangasinan province. Michael Vincent Galang Juico (born September 24, 1989) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pangasinan Heatwaves franchise of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and Pilipinas Super League (PSL). He was drafted 30th overall in the 2017 PBA draft by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Although he had a short PBA career, he has since won titles in other leagues, both in the amateur and professional level. College career Juico started his college career by playing for the Olivarez College Sea Lions in the Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA). He then played for the San Sebastian Stags. The 2024 MPBL All-Star Game was an exhibition game played on September 7, 2024, during the 2024 season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The MPBL All-Star Game is an exhibition game hosted by the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and showcases 30 of the league's star players. It is the main event of the greater MPBL All-Star Day, held during the latter part of the regular season alongside a series of pre-game events within the same day. 2025 MPBL Season
The 2025 MPBL season is the seventh season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and its fourth under professional status. The regular season began on March 8, 2025 with the opening ceremony at the Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela. The season will end in December with the 2025 MPBL finals. This season features 30 teams. The league expanded to the Cagayan Valley region for the first time with the addition of the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys. The Marikina Shoemasters are a Filipino professional basketball team based in Marikina. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division.
