Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) is a self-governing agency that governs the municipal areas of Chattogram and some adjoining areas of south-eastern Bangladesh. CCC government is elected by popular vote every 5 years. Chittagong-8 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh. The incumbent MP this constituency is Moslem Uddin Ahmad. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives of Bangladesh, there are 532 urban centres in Bangladesh. The bureau defines an urban centre with a population of 100,000 or more as a "city".
