Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. The society is housed in Nimtali, walking distance from the Curzon Hall of Dhaka University, locality of Old Dhaka. Abu Mohammed Habibullah
Abu Mohammed Habibullah (1911 – 3 June 1983), also known as ABM Habibullah, was a Bangladeshi historian and writer. Early life Habibullah was born on 1911 in Burdwan District, West Bengal, British India. He graduated from Hughli Madrasa in 1926 and Islamic Intermediate College, Dhaka (later Kabi Nazrul Government College) in 1928. He graduated with a B.A. in history from Hooghly Mohsin College in 1931 and a M.A. in history from the University of Calcutta in 1933. He earned his PhD from the School of Oriental Studies of the University of London. He also received a diploma in library science. Career Habibullah joined Calcutta Madrasa in 1938 as a librarian. He joined the History Department of the University of Calcutta as a lecturer in 1939. Abdul Karim (historian)
Abdul Karim ( – 24 July 2007) was a Bangladeshi historian. He served as the 5th vice-chancellor of the University of Chittagong. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1995 by the government of Bangladesh. He was best known for his works on medieval and early modern Bangladeshi and South Asian history. Early life Abdul Karim was born on 1 June 1928 at the village Chanpachari, Banskhali of Chittagong. His father is Syed Waijuddin and mother is Rashida Khatun. He is the youngest of 3 brothers and 1 sister. Muhammad Enamul Haq
Muhammad Enamul Haque (20 September 1902 – 16 February 1982) was a Bangladeshi researcher, litterateur and educationist. Early life and education Haque was born on 20 September 1902 in Bakhtpur, Fatikchhari Upazila, Chittagong District, Bengal Presidency, British India. He studied at Raozan High School. As a student he met Ismail Hossain Shiraji who inspired him with nationalism. In 1923, he passed the Entrance Examination. He was awarded a Mohsin scholarship. In 1925, he passed the FA Examination from Chittagong College. He completed his undergraduate in Arabic in 1927 and Masters in 1929 in Oriental languages from the University of Calcutta. Syed Sajjad Hussain (14 January 1920 – 12 January 1995) was a Bangladeshi academic and writer. He served as the 4th Vice-chancellor of the University of Rajshahi. Early life and education Hussain was born on 14 January 1920, to a Bengali Muslim family of Syeds in the village of Alokdia in Magura (formerly under Jessore District), Bengal Province to Syed Ahmad Hussain and Khurshida Talat Banu, who died when Hussain was five. Mafizullah Kabir
Mafizullah Kabir (28 February 1925 - 1986) was a Bangladeshi historian and researcher. He was a professor of history at the University of Dhaka. Early life Kabir was born on 28 February 1925 in Noakhali District, Bengal Presidency, Presidencies and provinces of British India, British India. In 1941, he finished his High Madrasah and in 1943, his Intermediate Examinations. He learned Arabic and Persian while studying at the madrassah. Muhammad Ibrahim (known as Justice M Ibrahim; September 1894 – 13 October 1966) was a Pakistani Bengali people, Bengali judge and academic. He served as the 8th Vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka during 1956–1958. Early life and education Ibrahim was born in September 1894 in Shaildubi village of Sadarpur Upazila in Faridpur District to Ghiyasuddin Ahmed. Syed Muhammed Taifoor
Syed Muhammed Taifoor (; 3 June 1885 – 25 February 1972) was a Bangladeshi historian, antiquarian and writer. Early life Taifoor was born on 3 June 1885, to a Bengali Muslim family in Dhaka, Bengal Presidency. His father, Syed Abdul Aziz, was a zamindar in nearby Sonargaon. Through his paternal grandfather Mir Ghulam Mustafa Al-Husayni, he was a descendant of 16th-century Islamic scholar and zamindar Syed Ibrahim Danishmand. Taifoor was educated in madrasas in the cities of Dhaka and Kolkata, and gained fluency in Bengali, English, Urdu and Persian. Career Taifoor joined the government service in 1909 as a sub-registrar. Serajul Huq (educator)
Serajul Huq (1 April 1905 – 4 March 2005) was a Bangladeshi educationist. Early life and education Huq was born in Noakhali District in 1905. He passed matriculation examination in 1921 from Dhaka Muhsinia Madrasa and Intermediate examination in 1923 from Dhaka Islamic Intermediate College. He then enrolled to University of Dhaka. He earned BA with Honors in Islamic Studies in 1926 and MA in Persian in 1927. In 1934 Huq earned his PhD degree from University of London. Career In 1928 Huq joined Dhaka University as a faculty as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He became Professor in 1951.
