''Night Eternal'' is the eighth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released on 16 May 2008 in Europe and on 10 June 2008 in North America. It was pre-produced in Portugal with Waldemar Sorychta from 16 to 30 November 2007 and recorded in Denmark at Antfarm studio from 7 to 31 January 2008. Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal band formed in 1992. The group released their first EP, '' Under the Moonspell'', in 1994 and followed up with their debut album, '' Wolfheart'', a year later. They quickly became the most recognizable metal band from Portugal and a key figure in gothic metal. Fernando Ribeiro is co-founder, singer and songwriter of the band. Moonspell achieved success in Portugal with their 1998 album '' Sin/Pecado''. With ''Memorial'' (2006), the group also became the first Portuguese metal band to have a record certified Gold. Anneke Van Giersbergen
Anna Maria "Anneke" van Giersbergen (born 8 March 1973) is a Dutch singer, songwriter and guitarist who became known worldwide as the lead singer for the rock band The Gathering between 1994 and 2007. She also has a solo career. The project was originally called Agua de Annique, but now goes by her own name. A frequent collaborator of Arjen Anthony Lucassen, she portrayed main characters in the albums '' Into the Electric Castle'', ''01011001'' and '' The Theater Equation'' by his project Ayreon. Fernando Ribeiro
Fernando Ribeiro (born August 26, 1974) is a Portuguese singer, vocalist, and lyricist for the Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell. In addition to this activity, he is also a writer and translator. Life and career Raised in Brandoa, just outside of Lisbon, Fernando Ribeiro formed Morbid God in 1989, which later changed its name to Moonspell in 1992. Concurrently with his musical endeavors, as a young adult, Ribeiro studied philosophy at the University of Lisbon for a period of time with the unfulfilled aim of becoming a high school philosophy teacher. He has published three books of poetry, namely, Como Escavar um Abismo (2001), As Feridas Essenciais (2004), and Diálogo de Vultos (2007). Wacken Open Air (, abbreviated as W:O:A) is a Heavy metal music, heavy metal music festival, held annually since 1990 on the first weekend of August in the village of Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Waldemar Sorychta (born 30 October 1967) is a Polish heavy metal record producer and musician who has lived in Germany since 1982. Career He initially worked with German thrash metal band Despair, founded in 1986. In 1994 he took part in the recording of the album '' Jesus Killing Machine'' by supergroup Voodoocult, led by German rock singer Phillip Boa featuring former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo among others. Later on, Sorychta and Lombardo founded the band Grip Inc. Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal music, heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock.
