The Fall Of Troy (band)
The Fall of Troy is an American post-hardcore band from Mukilteo, Washington. The band is a trio consisting of Thomas Erak (guitars, vocals, keyboards), Andrew Forsman (drums, percussion), and Jon-Henry "Hendo" Batts (bass, screamed vocals). When the group started their bassist was Tim Ward, who was later replaced by Frank Ene following his departure from the band in late 2007. Ene would remain in the band until their initial breakup in 2010, but Ward rejoined the band in Ene's place for their reunion in 2013. Ward once again left the band in 2016, and was later replaced by Just Like Vinyl bassist Jon-Henry "Hendo" Batts. The trio is known for their technical and dynamic style, unorthodox song structures, energetic stage presence and also for their song "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X." which was featured in several video games. Thomas Erak
Thomas Joseph Erak is an American singer, songwriter, and musician from Mukilteo, Washington, best known as a founding member of the Seattle-based progressive mathcore band, The Fall of Troy and as a member of the band Just Like Vinyl; as well as his recent solo experiment Thomas Erak and The Shoreline. He is a former member of the band Chiodos. Early life and youth career According to Thomas' appearance on the That One Time On Tour podcast, Thomas' father was a touring, for-hire bass player in the 70s and 80s, and helped him get into music as a young child. Initially, he began playing drums, often practicing music from jazz and funk greats like Miles Davis, Ray Charles, and James Brown. Later on, he picked up bass around the age of 7 and excelled at the instrument, learning entire songs by ear. ''OK'' is the fifth studio album by American mathcore band The Fall of Troy, released on April 20, 2016. The album was self-released for free on the band's website. It was the first release since their 2009 album, ''In the Unlikely Event'', and the first since their reunion in 2013. In May of 2016, the band released ''OK#2'', an alternative and more raw mix of ''OK'', which was also released for free. Two further versions, ''OK#3.1'' and ''OK#3.2'', instrumental versions of both OK and OK#2, respectively, were released for free on their website. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term " post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Tim Ward (musician)
Timothy Christopher Ward is an American musician best known as the former bassist and co-lead vocalist for the Mukilteo, Washington based post-hardcore band The Fall of Troy and as a singer and guitarist for the band Trash Kids. Early life and career Ward attended Kamiak High School and graduated in 2003. He met his bandmates Andrew Forsman and Thomas Erak while there, and they began a band called The 30 Years War with another member, Mike Munro. The 30 Years War independently released two EPs. In late high school Munro left the band, and the trio decided to continue their music, calling their new group The Fall of Troy. The Fall of Troy In May 2003, just before their high school graduation, The Fall of Troy entered the studio to record their first full-length album, which was released on Lujo Records and Equal Vision Records. Andrew Forsman
Andrew Clark Forsman is an American drummer and percussionist from Mukilteo, Washington, known as one of the founding members of the Seattle-based progressive rock band The Fall of Troy. Early life and youth career Forsman grew up in Mukilteo, Washington and graduated from Kamiak High School in 2004. Forsman started drumming at a young age. When he was in 7th grade, his parents told him that money was tight, and he had to stop taking drum lessons. His instructor at the time, Rick Strenslan, was so confident in his student's future success that he continued to give Forsman lessons for free. In high school he joined the Kamiak Show Band drumline, where he befriended Fall of Troy member Thomas Erak. Starting in his sophomore year of high school, Forsman was involved in a band with fellow Fall of Troy members called The 30 Years War.
