Background Mr Brightside was bred by Ray Johnson in partnership with his late wife, Martha. He was sold as a yearling for $22,000 at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock May Sale, but failed to meet his $50,000 reserve when entered again at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale. Elusive Quality (January 27, 1993 – March 14, 2018) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was a record-setting sprinter on the racetrack and the leading sire in North America of 2004. He sired the 2004 Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones. Background Elusive Quality was bred in Kentucky by Silver Springs Stud Farm and Marie Costelloe. He was owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who put him into training with Bill Mott. Elusive Quality was sired by Gone West, a stakes winning son of Mr. Prospector. The Australian Cup is a Victoria Racing Club Group races, Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for horses three years old and older, held under Weight for Age conditions, over a distance of 2000 metres, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in March during the VRC Autumn Racing Carnival. Total prize money for the race is A$3,000,000. History The race was once Australia's premier long distance race, raced at a distance of 18 furlongs (3621m) - thus, longer than the Melbourne Cup. In 1943 the race was shortened to 17 furlongs 110 yards to allow the race to be started from the top of Flemington's famous Straight Six, to have bigger fields. Romantic Warrior (foaled March 18, 2018) is a multiple Group 1 winning champion thoroughbred racehorse that was born in Ireland and trained in Hong Kong. After it arrived in Hong Kong in June 2021, he scored a five-race winning streak, including a championship of the Hong Kong Classic Mile. Anamoe (foaled 16 November 2018) is a retired nine-time Group 1 winning champion Australian thoroughbred racehorse and breeding stallion. Affectionately known as "The Big A", Anamoe is considered one of the most decorated Australian produced stallions ever. Mo'unga (foaled 20 November 2017) is a New Zealand-bred racehorse who won multiple Group 1 races in Australia. Background Bred by Waikato Stud in New Zealand, Mo'unga was sold at the 2019 Karaka Yearling Sale. He was purchased for $325,000 by Aquis Farm and relocated to their property in Queensland, Australia. Racing career Mo'unga contested his first race on June 20, 2020 at Gold Coast Racecourse in a 2-year-old Maiden race which he won by one length.
