Morriston (electoral Ward)
Morriston (( Welsh:''Treforys'' or ''Treforus'')) is an electoral ward in Swansea, Wales. It is coterminous with the Morriston community. Morriston is one of two five member wards in the City and County of Swansea local authority area. In population terms, it is the largest ward in the Welsh Assembly constituency of Swansea East and it is the largest ward the City and County of Swansea. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following geographical areas: Caemawr, Cwmrhydyceirw, Graig Felen, Morriston, Parc Gwernfadog, Pant-lasau, Ynysforgan and Ynystawe, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea East. The ward is bounded by the wards of Llansamlet and Clydach to the east; Bonymaen and Landore to the south; Mynydd-Bach and Llangyfelach to the west; and Mawr to the north. Swansea
Swansea (; cy, Abertawe ) is a coastal city and the second-largest city of Wales. It forms a principal area, officially known as the City and County of Swansea ( cy, links=no, Dinas a Sir Abertawe). The city is the twenty-fifth largest in the United Kingdom. Clydach is the name of an electoral ward (and a town) in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The electoral ward of Clydach consists of some or all of the following areas: Clydach (town), Faerdre, Glais (East), Graig Felen and Penydre in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. The ward is bounded by Mawr to the west, and Morriston and Llansamlet to the south. Mike Hedges (Welsh Politician)
Michael John Hedges MS (born 8 July 1956) is a Welsh Labour politician, who been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for the constituency of Swansea East since the 2011 Senedd election. Personal life Hedges has lived in Morriston for many years but was born in the Plasmarl area of Swansea. He is married to Anne and has a daughter, Catrin, who attends Ysgol Gyfun Bryntawe. He attended Plasmarl, Parklands and Penlan Schools, and went on to higher education at Swansea University and Cardiff University. Active in local sport, Hedges has been a football referee and coach, and was secretary of Morriston town for several years. Hedges is president of Ynystawe Cricket and Football Club and is a social member of both Morriston RFC and Glais RFC. Sketty ( cy, Sgeti) is the name of an electoral ward (coterminous with the Sketty community and suburb) in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The electoral ward is coterminous with the community. Description It is bounded to the following wards: north by Cockett, east by Uplands, south by the coast, southwest by Mayals and west by Killay North and Killay South. Glamorgan County Council, 1889-1974
Glamorgan County Council was established in 1889 together with the administrative county of Glamorganshire under the Local Government Act 1888. The first elections to the council were held in January 1889. The council was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 on 1 April 1974. It was replaced by Mid Glamorgan County Council, South Glamorgan County Council and West Glamorgan County Council. Its name simply means "large", and it was given the name because it was the largest piece of land in the former parish of Llangyfelach. Description Mawr falls within the parliamentary constituency of Gower. It is bounded by the communities of Pontarddulais to the west; Llangyfelach and Morriston to the south; Clydach to the southeast; Pontardawe of Neath Port Talbot to the northeast; Betws to the north and Tycroes to the north west. Llangyfelach is an electoral ward in the county of Swansea, Wales, UK. It covers the communities of Llangyfelach and part of Mawr.
