Clydach is an electoral ward (and a town) in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The electoral ward of Clydach consists of some or all of the following areas: Clydach (town), Faerdre, Glais (East), Graig Felen and Penydre in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. The ward is bounded by Mawr to the west, and Morriston and Llansamlet to the south. West Glamorgan () is a former administrative county in South Wales. It is now a preserved county. West Glamorgan was one of the divisions of the ancient county of Glamorgan. It was created on 1 April 1974, by the Local Government Act 1972 from the county borough of Swansea, the municipal boroughs of Neath and Port Talbot, the urban districts of Glyncorrwg and Llwchwr, Gower Rural District, Pontardawe Rural District, and all of Neath Rural District except the parish of Rhigos. Gower (National Assembly For Wales Constituency)
Gower () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of seven constituencies in the South Wales West electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to seven constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Clydach, Swansea
Clydach is a village and community (Wales), community in Swansea, Wales, within the Clydach (electoral ward), Clydach ward and the Llangyfelach parish. It is located northeast of Swansea city centre. In 2011, the population was 7,503. Welsh language, Welsh is the first language of 24 per cent of the population and both Welsh language, Welsh and English language schools are available. The village lies close to the M4 motorway which can be accessed via the bypass or old road via Ynystawe. The community includes part of the village of Glais. Morriston (; ) is a Community (Wales), community in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, and falls within the Morriston (electoral ward), Morriston ward. It is the largest community in the Swansea county. Llansamlet
Llansamlet is a suburban district and Community (Wales), community of Swansea, Wales, falling into the Llansamlet (electoral ward), Llansamlet ward. The area is centred on the A48 road (named Samlet Road and Clase Road in the area) and the M4 motorway. Like other places in Wales having a name beginning with Llan place name element, Llan, Llansamlet is named after a church, usually itself bearing the name of a saint – in this case, the church of Saint Samlet. 1995 City And County Of Swansea Council Election
The first election to the City and County of Swansea Council was held on 4 May 1995. It was followed by the 1999 election. On the same day there were elections to the other 21 local authorities in Wales and community councils in Wales. Overview All council seats were up for election. These were the first elections held following local government reorganisation and the abolition of West Glamorgan County Council. The ward boundaries for the new authority were based on the previous Lliw Valley Borough Council and Swansea City Council although the number of members elected for individual wards was reduced.
