Milly Scott
Marion Henriëtte Louise Molly (born 29 December 1933), known professionally as Milly Scott, is a Dutch singer and actress of Surinamese origin, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 1966. She is recognised as the first black singer to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. Early life Scott was born in Den Helder, the main base of the Royal Netherlands Navy, where her father was stationed as a marine. Both her parents were immigrants from the Dutch colony of Surinam, while her paternal grandfather was originally from North Brabant. As the first black family in Den Helder and the only black child in kindergarten, she often experienced discrimination while growing up. In the beginning of World War II, the ship HNLMS ''Johan Maurits van Nassau'' was bombed, severely wounding Scott's father, after which the family moved to Amsterdam. Snip En Snap
Snip en Snap (or, the ''Snip en Snap Revue'') were a Dutch cabaret act, consisting of Willy Walden and Piet Muijselaar, who performed songs and skits in drag and were active from 1937 to 1977. The act was conceived by Jacques van Tol, who borrowed the concept from Solser en Hesse ("Wip en Snip"). Walden and Muijselaar first appeared as the duo in 1937, on the AVRO radio show ''De bonte dinsdagavondtrein''. Initially planned as a one-time act – for Walden and Muijselaar had no interest in dressing up in women's clothing for the stage, but made an exception for radio – the show was so popular that AVRO engaged them through their agent/producer, Rene Sleeswijk, for a theater tour in which they were the main attraction; after a year the tour (known as the ''Sleeswijk Revue''), which had become more an act showcasing the duo, gained great popularity, and ran for forty years. Antoine Gerard Theodore "Toon" Hermans (17 December 1916 – 22 April 2000) was a noted Dutch comedian, singer and writer. Toon Hermans was born in Sittard. He began performing in the 1930s, achieving local, regional and, eventually, national fame in the Netherlands as a comedian during the post-war decades.
