Mick Haggerty
Mick Haggerty is an English graphic designer, illustrator, art director, video director and artist. Haggerty has received four Grammy Award nominations for Best Recording Package, and in 1980 was jointly awarded, with Mike Doud, the Grammy for Supertramp's ''Breakfast in America'' (1979). He also received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video (short form) in 1986 for ''The Daryl Hall and John Oates Video Collection''. Background Born in England and educated in London at the Central School of Art and the Royal College of Art, he moved to Los Angeles in 1973. During the following decades he produced images for many artists. Starting in 1980 he directed many of the first music videos for artists. ''The Night the Light Went On in Long Beach'' is a 1974 live album by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) recorded on the evening of 12 May 1974 at the Long Beach Auditorium in Long Beach, California; its title lampoons " The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" by Vicki Lawrence. Background and limited release This live album was intended as the follow-up to '' On the Third Day'', but the original recording was marred by technical issues both on and off the stage. The problems started when the truck carrying the band's equipment broke down ''en route'' to the venue, and the band did not have enough time to perform a proper soundcheck before the concert. Initial vinyl pressings of the album were of such poor quality that ELO's management eventually filed a lawsuit against the production company for compensation. ''Ghost in the Machine'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band the Police. The album was released on 2 October 1981 by A&M Records. The songs were recorded between January and September 1981 during sessions that took place at AIR Studios in Montserrat and Le Studio in Quebec, assisted by record producer Hugh Padgham. ''Ghost in the Machine'' topped the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number two on the US ''Billboard'' 200. The album produced the highly successful singles " Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", " Invisible Sun", and " Spirits in the Material World", with a fourth single, " Secret Journey", also being released in the US. The Police
The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For most of their history the line-up consisted of primary songwriter Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion). Gamma (band)
Gamma was an American band formed by guitarist Ronnie Montrose and singer Davey Pattison in San Francisco, California, United States in 1979. They released four albums: '' Gamma 1'' (1979), ''Gamma 2'' (1980), ''Gamma 3'' (1982) (all on Elektra Records) and ''Gamma 4'' (2000). Their biggest hit was 1982's "Right the First Time", which was a minor chart entry in the US, but a top 40 hit in Canada. Some of their other best known songs include "Fight to the Finish" from their first album, and "Meanstreak" and "Voyager" from the second album. History Original incarnation (1979–1983) Ronnie Montrose put the band together after having released a solo album ''Open Fire'' in 1978, after having disbanded the hard rock band Montrose in 1977. ''Jerry Lee Lewis'' is the 35th studio album by American rock and roll pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis, released by Elektra in 1979. Recording After 15 years with Mercury, Lewis made the switch to Elektra in 1978, and the move seemed to rejuvenate him. He had grown tired with the formulaic overproduction that his recent albums on Mercury had been layered with and began recording new material with producer Bones Howe in January 1979 in Los Angeles. Howe, who had worked on Elvis Presley's celebrated 1968 comeback special and had produced albums by Tom Waits and Juice Newton, assembled a more stripped-down band (including Elvis's former guitarist James Burton) that resembled what Lewis used on the road. Jerry Lee Lewis (September 29, 1935October 28, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter and pianist. Nicknamed "The Killer", he was described as " rock & roll's first great wild man". A pioneer of rock and roll and rockabilly music, Lewis made his first recordings in 1952 at Cosimo Matassa's J&M Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana, and early recordings in 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. Hot Tuna
Hot Tuna is an American blues rock band formed in 1969 by former Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen (guitarist/vocals) and Jack Casady (bassist). Although it has always been a fluid aggregation, with musicians coming and going over the years, the band's center has always been Kaukonen and Casady's ongoing collaboration. History 1969–1973: beginnings Hot Tuna began as a side project to Jefferson Airplane, intended to mark time while Grace Slick recovered from vocal cord nodule surgery that had left her unable to perform.
