MeÅŸher
Meşher is an art exhibition space on Istiklal Street in Istanbul, Turkey, operated by the private Vehbi Koç Foundation. Meşher was founded in 2019 in the building that formerly housed the Arter (art center), Arter. The name Meşher is the Ottoman Turkish word ( ) meaning exhibition or exhibition space. ''I-You-They: A Century of Artist Women'' (2021–2022) The exhibition named ''I-You-They: A Century of Artist Women'' initially was held from 9 October 2021 to 27 March 2022 but was later extended another two months until 29 May 2022. It included pieces created by female artists who were based in Turkey and active between the years of the 1850s and the 1950s. It intends to recognize artists that are largely unrecognized in classic art history. The exhibition was curated by Deniz Artun, and was created under patronage by Çiğdem Simavi. NeÅŸe Aybey
Neşe Aybey (; 2 March 1930 – 4 January 2015), also written Neş'e Aybey, was a Turkish painter, Miniature art, miniaturist and academic in the field of miniature art, one of the ''Traditional Turkish Arts'' and part of the Ottoman Book Arts. She was the older sister of sculptor Gürdal Duyar. Biography Neşe Aybey was born as Neşe Duyar on 2 March 1930 as the second child of Fikri Duyar and Nezahat Duyar (). She was the older sister of sculptor Gürdal Duyar (1935–2004) and younger sister of Erdal Duyar (1927–1975). She was married to Hasan Rauf Aybey (1921–2005), an internist-medical doctor and poet. Arter (art Center)
Arter is a contemporary art museum in the Dolapdere district of Istanbul, Turkey. A subsidiary of the Vehbi Koç Foundation, Arter was opened in 2010 with the aim of providing a sustainable infrastructure for producing and exhibiting contemporary art. Following eight years of operation during which it contributed to the visibility of contemporary art with a programme featuring exhibitions, publications, talks, performances and workshops at its venue on İstiklal Avenue, Istiklal Street, Arter moved to its new home in the Dolapdere district of Istanbul in September 2019. At its new building, Arter continues expanding the range of its activities beyond exhibitions to performances and events across many disciplines. Semiha Berksoy (24 May 1910 – 15 August 2004) was a Turkish opera singer and painter. Early life Semiha Berksoy was born in Çengelköy, Istanbul on 25 May 1910. Aliye Berger
Aliye Berger (24 December 1903 – 9 August 1974) was a Turkish engraver and painter. She is one of the first engravers of Turkey. She is known for her expressionist engravings and winning the painting competition of Yapı Kredi Bank in 1954. Biography Berger was born on 24 December 1903 in Büyükada, Istanbul, Ottoman Empire. Her father was Kabaağaçlı Şakir Paşa and mother Giritli Sare İsmet Hanım. Her sister was the artist Fehrelnissa Zeid and her brother was the author Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı. Berger originally studied painting and piano lessons while attending the Lycée Notre Dame de Sion. In 1947 she married Carl Berger, her music teacher, but he died less than six months later. Berger then followed her sister to London, where she began to study engraving and sculpture, mentored by the artist John Buckland-Wright. Sabiha Bengütaş
Sabiha Ziya Bengütaş (1904 – 2 October 1992) was a Turkish sculptor. She is the first woman sculptor of Turkey Life Sabiha Ziya was born in Istanbul in 1904. She had a sister and an elder brother. Lerzan Bengisu
Lerzan Bengisu (1906–16 March, 1978) was a Turkish sculptor and Woodworking, woodcrafter. Life She was born in Istanbul in 1906.
