Behice Boran
Behice Boran (1 May 1910 – 10 October 1987) was a Turkish Marxist-Leninist politician, author and sociologist. As a dissenting political voice from the far-left, Boran was repeatedly imprisoned for her work and died in exile after the Turkish military coup of 1980. Biography Boran was born in Bursa to Kazan Tatar parents whose families had settled in the Ottoman Empire during the 1890s. She graduated from American College for Girls in Istanbul and studied sociology at the University of Michigan in the United States. She received a PhD on sociology in 1939 from the University of Michigan, and was involved in Marxism. She was nominated to Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History-Geography as an associate professor. Behice Hanım (; "''Happy''"; born Behiye Maan; 10 October 1882 – 22 October 1969; after the Surname Law of 1934: Behice Maan) was a consort of Sultan Abdul Hamid II of the Ottoman Empire. Early life Behice Hanım was born on 10 October 1882 in Beynevid, Adapazarı, Sakarya Province. Born as Behiye Maan, she was a member of Abkhazian noble family, Maan. Her father was Albus Bey Maan, the grandson of Kats Bey Maan. Her mother was Nazli Hanım Kucba, an Abkhazian, daughter of Hacı Kuç Pasha. She had one brother, Rauf Bey, and four sisters, Atiye Hanım, Tasvire Hanım, Ihsan Hanım, and Nimet Hanım. She was the first cousin of Sazkar Hanım, one of other consort of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. Behice Sultan
Behice Sultan (; 6 August 1848 – 30 November 1876) was an Ottoman princess, daughter of Sultan Abdulmejid I and Nesrin Hanım. She was the half-sister of Sultans Murad V, Abdul Hamid II, Mehmed V, and Mehmed VI. Early life Behice Sultan was born on 6 August 1848 in the Çırağan Palace. Her father was Sultan Abdulmejid I, and her mother was Nesrin Hanım. She was the second child of her mother. She had three brothers, Şehzade Mehmed Ziyaeddin, two years elder then her, and two twin brothers Şehzade Mehmed Nizameddin and Şehzade Mehmed Bahaeddin, two years younger than her. After her mother's death in 1853, when Behice was five, she was adopted by one other Abdülmejid's consort, Şayan Kadın, who no had child for her own.
